Re: Guster Fans Thread
Well, show I was just at the Guster show at the Rave last night. Simply. Incredible.
Got to the Rave at 2:30 and hung out outside before hand, there was a group of 17 of us that was going to the concert. We all had ping-pong balls and bubbles, the pingpong balls were hid in shoes, hats, bras, but the bubbles were too big and couldn't hide them well so they were taken away. We proceeded in and our entire group was in the first 2 rows, dead center. Zambonis came on, funny to see everyone in complete hockey appearl, but they did a song called "Guster is playing hockey with the Zambonis" that Guster came out and played/sang on and another song titled "Hockey Monkey" which included Ryan, dressed in a huge monkey head, a small pair of shorts and "hockey skate" shoes coming out and dancing. He also proceeded to moon the drummer, fucking nuts.
Guster came out, I would bet that somebody, not saying who *coughRYANcough* ate one big hash brownie before coming out. My band plays many Guster songs, so when Adam came out with capo-2 on the guitar, we knew it was either I Spy or Airport to open. Sure enough, I spy, Barrel of a Gun, Demons, Airport Song were some of the first ones (not the correct order though). Got to hear 4 new songs, I'm Through, You're My Satellite, Captain, and G-major. All of them sound awesome, espically Im Thru and Gmajor. 2 Points For Honesty was nice, and got to hear my favorite song, Come Downstairs.
Out of the last 6 songs they played, I was able to predict 5 of them based on there set-up. I got Amsterdam and FaFa right, then they went off, came back for a 4 song encore. Didn't see Parachutes coming, but then predicted G-major and Happier. For there last song Joe grabbed the banjo, I knew Jesus on the Radio was coming. But they completely unplugged (guitars, mics, everthing) came to the front of the stage and did a completely acoustic version of Jesus. Crowd was incredible for the song, extremely quiet, not much obnoxious screams.
Post-show our group hung out in extremely cold (for April at least) weather for 1.5 hours. Got to meet and hang out with both bands for a short time. Got my KIT CD jacket signed and 4 jowling pictures, one with each group member (I'll post those ASAP). Also gave Brian a CD with us covering there songs and a demo CD, hopefully that will work out!!!
Peace y'all!
