Re: The Gorge Q&A and FAQs

Any advise......so there will be 3 of us this year me coming from California and 2 from Wisconsin. This year they are only allowing 2 tix in pavilion.......I'm not really a lawn person as I am a long time fan and in my 40's ( my time getting pissed on at Alpine lawn has jaded me) Is there any way to get 3 seats together OR is lawn an ok option for us? Love to dance and it seems way too steep on the lawn. Any advise would be great as its only my second time at Gorge as we usually go to Alpine and would usually seek the 3rd person to our row but I don't think the seating at Gorge works well for this.

If there's a lawn on Earth that's okay to be on, it's Gorge.

As to steepness, if you are wiling to line up a little early, you can get a spot on the terrace steps (natural rock cropping steps) that are flat and have great views.

If you do want to do seats, it's not hard to stub one extra person into two seats. Just make sure you make friends with your neighbors if you try this, because it can be an annoyance to those in your row when they try to get in or out since the Gorge reserves are a bit tight.

Lawn or die!!! I do lower at every other venue I go to, but lawn every time at the Gorge (also because we have a big crew). But, I do suggest that everyone do lawn at least once there, as it is pretty awesome to have the view of the river, as well as to look at how many people are there focused on the stage having the best time of their life. It truly is a magical place.

Terrace camping ants! What size tent can we fit on our spot? Or is it better to do premier?

EDIT: has anyone heard if Glamping is sold out this year? I inquired last week but never heard back.

    Want lots of space...do Premier.

Want great views of the venue and river, personal vans to run you back and forth, short walk and no lines to restroom/showers, quiet at night but just a short walk to the party, free coffee/donuts in the morning...do Terrace

Yup I want all those things for sure. But I want to use a nice six man tent, too.

Any grills provided on terrace campsites? I see no fires...but grills are allowed. What is recommended for food cooking? How about for heat at night!

Each Terrace spot comes with a picnic table, with plenty of room for a 6-8 person tent. No grills provided, bring in your own. Heat at night...wear lots of clothing.

Leaving Monday morning... What's the earliest flight back east to book if we want to make sure we get out in time? What time does everyone leave the campground?

    Bank on traffic.

Last year we left camp at about 8am because we had to have our rental car back by noon, and we hit very little traffic heading back to Seattle. But as the day progresses the roads get very very busy.

it's really tough leaving on monday. you may think you can get up and back to seattle early, but once you're at the gorge it's 10000000 times harder. we usually leave the campground around 9, and are back in seattle midafternoon. better to be safe than sorry with your flights

I'm not sure if I understand the question. You can leave the campground whenever you want, so you can make any flight you book. It's just a matter of how early you want to wake up on Monday morning.

    IT IS SO HARD.

We had like 75% of our stuff packed up and ready to rock on Sunday afternoon which was super depressing. Tent and EZ-Up tear down and loading up the car on Monday AM was a lot of sad sad work. (Plus we could NOT get the EZ-Up stake/nail/things out of the ground, it was crazy......)

I hope we can time things out this year that we can pack up and leave at our own pace on Monday morning.

We'll for sure fly out on Tuesday again no matter what, flights are cheaper and it lessens all the stress on Monday.

UGH. I hate Monday. I'm getting a bit teary eyed just thinking about it.

Give yourself a bit more time than you'd think you'll need. Saying good bye to new and existing friends is tough.

I wanna say in 2012 we left Wildhorse a little after 7 AM and still made it to SEA-TAC with plenty of time to spare before our flight back to Dulles which left at noon. Can't remember getting stuck in any gnarly traffic, I believe the whole drive went pretty smooth.

The earlier you leave the less traffic you will encounter. Just factor in the suck of leaving.

One member of our group used his (2006) priority last year for Terrace. It did NOT work. But after getting there, camping in Premier, and seeing Terrace? No thanks! The small space is made smaller by the picnic table. Besides, we had a great view of the Gorge as the Premier site slopes slightly. Save your priority and $140, IMHO.

Unless your doing Seattle area for sightseeing, use Spokane!
2 1/2 hour drive, no traffic easy car rental and no TSA lines.

Quick couple questions that many of you might be able to clear up, BUT isn't this year the 20th year at The Gorge? Also, correct me if I'm wrong but won't Friday be the 50th show overall at The Gorge? Can someone please corroborate this evidence?

Don't want to start getting our Gorge group amped without a second voice to confirm...

    Cheers!

50th show, NOT including that little parking lot deal in 2002 where Dave played a few songs with Jason Mraz, was last year.

And yes, this'll be their 20th year playing the Gorge . (1996-2015 inclusive)

Anyone ever rent a trailer that was dropped off in advance by rental co? Got one reserved, just trying to figure out if we need 2 camping passes or only 1. If we were towing it ourselves we'd only need one...right?

I have not heard that option discussed before this year. I would call the venue to clarify. I have heard others indicated they have confirmed they only need ONE PASS.

    Your mileage may very.
