Not in the least... i think ours were 9 bucks on clearance. We already have in our camping gear, not sure it's worth running out to buy.

Re: The Gorge Q&A and FAQs

    Couple questions...

I'm guessing it's safe to say if you choose Gold/Terrace/Premier you should in theory not end up in Standard even though it shows it as a possible option unless you only opt for consideration for your actual choice. My worry with that is that I may not end up with a campsite but I would also not want to end up in Standard.

Also when buying Gorge tickets I want to try to get at least 1 night pit, 1 night reserved seating and 1 night lawn. I notice when you leave Lawn for consideration there is also a 3Day Lawn $40 option...what's the difference between that and Lawn $48.50? I guess I'm not sure why it's an option if you can opt out of Lawn for the other 2 nights. Basically I don't mind getting Lawn since it's the Gorge but I would hate to get all 3 Days Lawn if only 1 night doesn't end up with my preferred choice.

It seems the more $$ you spend and the higher you start on the options that you have less room to fall since it would seem the cheapest options are the most popular.

That's pretty much my first choice...my buddy is pushing for Terrace, which we know is popular but I figure if we strike out we should get Premier.

Also to clarify on my Lawn question, I'm not sure why it just doesn't say Lawn $48.50 at the bottom of the Preference list when you opt in for Lawn. The fact that it says 3Day Lawn $40 for one night just doesn't make sense to me when you have different options for each night.

    1) Warehouse probably only has a handful of Terrace & Premier, and probably has an unlimited supply of General. Leaving the box unchecked is an open door for the Warehouse to give you General, leaving the others for folks who checked the box.

    2) Put in for Pit all 3 nights with box checked. You won't get all 3, sell extras. NEVER BUY LAWN EARLY, people will be giving them away in camp the day of show

The year I didn't check the box for Premier only is the one year (out of 4) I was denied Premier and got General. Found Premier at Public sale.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and advice.

What's the biggest size cooler you can check on a plane? I think that someone (Russ or Austin maybe) had posted a link before (maybe last year's Gorge thread)...

sum of the 3 dimensions can't exceed 61" before being hit with oversize fees.

At this point I think I'll follow everyone's advice and pick what I want, opt out of everything else and try to get what I want from Citibank presale if I strike out. Thanks everyone!

Nope, we accounted for the weight of all the blankets and bedding and stuff, it was just so much less to manhandle when we packed it together.

    We used one of these:
    http://www.amazon.com/Samsonite-Tote...duffle+luggage

Which was a no-frills bag that was literally designed to meet the maximum size guidelines for checked baggage. Then used XL/L space bags packed with stuff mentioned above stacked in there. Worked like a champ.

This guy is right. We used a coleman xtreme 70q purchased from mostly any home goods/sporting goods store.

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-70...Cooler/4807332

It holds ice well, has no wheels, and has good handles and a drain port. I bought some luggage straps and ran them under the handles and across the cooler. The TSA has to be able to open and inspect the luggage so they so choose which is why I use luggage straps.

They will make you sign a waiver stating that they take no responsibility for damage to your cooler but it'll get there.

Thought about this last year but didn't know how we would vacuum them at the campsite for the return flight. How'd you do it?

We used the pump that was used to fill the air mattresses up. Just took the hose off and switched it to the opposite side and sucked the air out of the bags from space.

We use these for our pillows whenever we travel anywhere. You can just roll them and squeeze most of the air out with the zipper end almost sealed, even if you don't have a vacuum.

why isn't 'glamping' an option when doing ticket requests? it doesn't show up along the other options (i.e. standard/premiere/terrace/gold).

Glamping requires direct contact with the venue. I have heard that they added capacity though.

I've been waiting a long time to say this....."First time Gorge goer here!". I noticed that there is an option on the Warehouse ticketing request to select "priority" for your camping selection, not just show tickets. I am assuming most on this board probably think "priority selection" is bogus to begin with, but for those who have done it.....have you had any luck with selecting priority for your camping selection? To provide some background, I am a 2004 Warehouse member.

If you forget anything or need to borrow something dont be afraid to ask your neighbours. I always end up lending out something and it always comes back and its a great way to meet people although thats pretty easy at the Gorge.

i've always gotten approved for premier through WH. that being said, last year i used premier camping as my priority show. did it have any bearing on my getting approved? no clue. but i do know that premier isn't hard to get during the citi, or public onsale, as long as you are on when it first opens up...so maybe save it for a show. but i'm not convinced it even matters at all

The stereotype hits home again. Anyone i know from Texas applies this philosophy: "It's always better and bigger in Texas"

    Tent size: Does it matter?

I think we'll have two tents we'll be looking to put up in our "allotted space." What size tent(s) would be ideal so we not seen as assholes trying to conduct a land grab???

Do the expert campers on this board have a particular favorite tent you prefer? Keep in mind that I'm old and camping to me and the wife usually means a two bedroom cabin with a/c, showers and basic cable...

    Thanks!

We have this exact tent: Coleman Crestline 8 from Costco in Canadia. It is HUGE! My husband, at 6'-1" can stand comfortably in the middle, lots of room for our queen sized air mattress and all our gear. We may have been mocked a little bit last year for our gigantic tent (we camped at Wildhorse in a cozy shanty-town of our group's creation, so not really sites, per se) but I think it was just tent envy. It was great and we loved it!!!

Tent size: if doing Terrace you want small as you only get so much space. If doing Premier you can have larger tents, claim some extra space.
