Father John Misty

aka, former fleet foxes drummer j. tillman. Any fans out there? He just released his eighth solo album, Fear Fun, on subpop and it's getting rave reviews.

Here are a few standouts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtOToiIDNRA (hollywood forever cemetary sings-------aubrey plaza fans should enjoy this as well)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G96D8LAsIbo (every man needs a companion)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sZIw...0866D3DBAC3683 (only son of a ladies man, live on letterman)

He's a great musician, and as you can tell from his lyrics and his dance moves on letterman, he has a sense of humor and doesnt take himself too seriously

If you don't have anything to contribute don't post. It's not funny and it's just gonna get you a time out.

I support this thread. Great band, Josh Tillman is a very funny songwriter. Might even be better than last year's Fleet Foxes LP.

I love this guy...but lets not get carried away now. Helplessness blues is a top 10 album of the last decade IMO

I'm also kind of bitter that he left the foxes instead of just pursuing it as a side project. The harmonies man!

I'm glad Robin Pecknold made this thread. I thought there might be bad blood between you two since Tillman left the band, but apparently you two have buried the hatchet. Good for you guys, .

i think Fear Fun is gonna throw the fleet foxes for a loop, because it basically says fuck you to the subject matter/tone they've been singing about for the first 2.5 albums,

the only new song I can really remember was a pseudo love song that was actually more serious than his Fear Fun album. I assume it was about him getting engaged, his fiance was at the show just watching from the side.

He was much more sassy in Nashville I hear.

I don't love and or hate the three new songs. I just hope the whole album isn't so politically driven. That being said, Honeybear is a fantastic album.

Surprised this thread hasn't been active since Pure Comedy came out. I got into Tillman's work after seeing him perform prior to the album dropping and really dig his music under the FJM name. Looking forward to the upcoming album.

I've been obsessed with his cover of Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" from a few years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6krmom_hjEE

If you watch his Austin City Limits episode, keep a look out for Allison. She played French Horn with the band on a several songs.

She was able to get me a ticket, so I got to go to the taping. I dug it. It was surreal seeing her up there on that stage we've seen so many artists perform on.

Me too! Thought he came off like a major douche when he started harping on having to play music at a symbol of imperialism or some shit.
