Granted some set lists are better than others and some performances are better than others. It seems like that's one thing that gets lost sight of way too often on this site, people will find anything to complain about, songs that weren't played, songs that were played, the order they were played, the crowd, it seems like there's a lot of wasted energy focusing on the negatives of the show, why not just appreciate the fact that you're seeing one of the best live bands ever and just enjoy the show?? The band doesn't owe you any particular songs, they're not going to play Halloween or The Last Stop every night, and that's one of the coolest things about them, they play what they want to play and if you happen to be at a show where things come together and you get to hear rare songs or hear every song you want then more power to you. I've seen 13 shows and enjoyed every single one of them, and if they come and play the MHMF again this year I will be there and enjoy seeing my favorite band and it will be a great show!"
Ok, so any day you see DMB is pretty much better than any other day, but comparing apples to apples, the show was weak. It was a typical festival setlist, the crowd was okay but not great, and the energy was only so-so. Admittedly I am a bit of a setlist snob because I've been spoiled by a few great shows. I did have a great time, don't get me wrong, but as I moved out of Denver in 2005, and have to travel to see them, I wouldn't make the trip down for MHMF again. If I wasn't already seeing them 3 other times this summer I probably would I guess, but I wouldn't miss Red Rocks for the world the next time they play there!
