I think wizards don't have cell phones because just like muggles, they are resistant to change. set in their ways. they think their way is the best.

I also love that you aren't automatically born knowing eveything about being a wizard. There are skilled wizards and not so skilled wizards. You have to learn how to get rid of a bogart just like we learn how to drive a truck. Some muggles are good at basketball and some are not. Some wizards are good at potions, some are not. So maybe Harry doesn't make the water appear in the shell in HPB because just like any human, he's panicked, scared, distraught, and not thinking clearly.

These things are what I love most about the series. Rowling doesn't make life lessons easier just because you're a wizard. Brilliant.
to everything. I took an intro to sociology class last semester that was based on HP and I had to read some articles related to the stuff mentioned above...too bad I can't remember what the articles said. I think they came from this book though http://www.amazon.com/Reading-Harry-.../dp/0313320675

I've gotten into watching the Doctor Who revival series the last couple months, and in season 3 the Doctor goes back in time with his companion (Martha Jones) and meets Shakespeare. Early in the episode Martha likens something the Doctor says to sounding like Harry Potter, and he goes "ooh wait til you read book 7. I cried." but even better, towards the end Shakespeare has to rattle off all of this dialog he's literally just making up right there on the spot to battle against a group of witches, it comes down to the last line and he's stumped, and Martha yells out "expelliarmus!!" and so that's what Shakespeare says

It always bugs me in HBP when Harry's taking the one potions lesson with just a couple people people most are out during the apparation test, so Slughorn tells them to "surprise me with something fun!" and Harry apparently makes this really high quality euphoria potion, that when Slughorn then leaves quickly because he doesn't wanna get cornered about the memory again -- Harry goes and dumps the whole potion down the sink! A cauldron full of top notch euphoria potion, WTF Harry?!?! I mean in our context we're talking about like a bucket full of free percocets or something you're throwing away, doh!!

I've got a HBP question. When Harry is trying to figure out who the half blood prince is, Lupin tells him to look at the date of the book and Harry sees it's over 50 years old. He realizes that his dad, Sirius or Lupin couldn't have been that HBP because they weren't at Hogwarts 50 years. Then later Harry finds out Snape was the HBP but didn't Snape go to Hogwarts at the same time that Harry's parents go? Am I missing something here?

perhaps snape bought the book second hand, or he got it as a hammiedown.

That's what I was thinking, maybe it was bought by his mom and then given to him.

because over 50 years ago gives the impression that it is Voldemort's book.

Exactly and I knew that Snape didn't go to Hogwarts with Voldemort but his mom very easily could have.

I'm pretty pleased with that. I think it's a good spot to end it with a "cliff hanger-ish" feeling.

Seems like since the split is so late, the 2nd movie will consist almost entirely of the battle. Sounds pretty awesome, but I'm hoping that means there will be room in there too for an adequate Prince's Tale (fingers crossed).
Regardless, I'm not going to want it to end, wherever they split it

So part 1 made the front cover of EW's Fall Movie Preview issue so there's a pretty good sized piece on it. Though from the sounds of it they made at least one significant change in regards to one of the horcruxes. It mentions Ron & Hermione being soaking wet on set, and then "have recently destroyed another horcrux in water and were pursued by a Voldemort-shaped tsunami". That definitely wasn't in the book, the one R&H do on their own is from the baselisk fang, so I guess there won't be a quick return trip into the Chamber Of Secrets. Though I wonder what's so special about the water that it can destroy the horcrux.

Actually I hate to admit that all in all, for how long it was it did turn out a little disappointing, the article.

Although it did give us the clearest indication so far of where the split will be, it said "about the chapter where Voldemort takes possession of the elder wand".

I'm still with the guy who said the split should be after Dobby's death, to open the second with the Gringotts opening.

Then again, that'd make the 2nd movie like 4 hours long.

that was me..end it on a major down note like Empire Strikes Back

i think they could cut it down to 3 hours, and thatd be perfect

at first i wasnt sure about the split but now i think it will be good... it will be a dramatic ending... but they have a ton to squeeze into the first movie and not much left for the second.. there would be 25 chapters for the part one and 11 for part two...

Well but they've already said, I mean yea in terms of just number of pages from the book it'll be quite out of balance, but it's because they're truly going to do the battle of Hogwarts justice and all the stuff surrounding it. They've said it's pretty much a balls to the wall action film.

So they changed how one of the horcruxes was destroyed? I mean it really isn't a big deal if the Horcrux doesn't change but i still don't understand why they would change how it was destroyed.
