I've mentioned Lillywhite because I think he knows how to get the best out of these musicians.
And I didn't mean it as the second coming or return to greatness or anything because this isn't 94 96 or 98 and these aren't a bunch of bros in their 20s anymore.
But the way Carter in particular played last night blew me away. Not just on the new songs. It reminded me more of the first 3 albums than any of the recent ones. I think Lillywhites approach with them in the studio, Carter in particular, and even Boyd, is whats gonna drive this band to produce something better than it has in the past 10 years.
I think its gonna be good. Comparing it to the first three albums is stupid because these aren't a bunch of young aspiring musicians pouring 120% of their soul into these songs. They aren't together everyday of their lives anymore they have families and its never gonna be the same. Nobody should be saying it is.
I don't see how people can't see the difference in the approach to the music.
