Re: New studio news!

Sounds good. I like the upright bass. I'm getting some BTCS vibes.

According to Moses on TDC, who is very much an insider. thestand over here on Ants has said he won't even pretend he knows as much as Moses. Of course some won't believe what he posted, but for what it's worth:

Steve Miller, not of the Steve Miller Band, but someone who has worked with the band before. I'm sorry I can't give anyone more information about what tracks are on the album, who else might be guesting, etc. All I know is what has been told to me and what I've posted. The only other thing that my friend clarified about the setup is that the band had been recording with another brand/type of mics and part of her crew's job was to bring in the new steinhauser mics and do some repair work on the mixing consoles. She doesn't know why they made the move, if it was for recording the entire session or for particular tracks. Like I said before, if I find out anything new, I'll let you guys know. I've never been the person to come across this kind of information before and just thought it would be cool to share.

I hate when people say stuff like this. They'll play the same shit, but just because it's Butch, you'd rather have Dave play it. It's like when people have said that Out Of My Hands would be better if Dave got up and played it all the time and not Butch.

I hear what you're saying, but I love the fact that Dave experiments on piano. And in case you didn't notice, Dave plays absolutely no guitar on ADSR. So I'd rather have Dave take the lead on this one.

I like Butch, but I'd rather have Dave lead the song. Thats all Im saying.

umm...Dave plays a guitar solo in this one, which is probably the #1 reason people like and are excited about it.

But he plays nothing during the verses and the chorus, which I don't get at all.

I would say that the #1 reason why people on this board are excited about ADSR are the lyrics, which aren't that bad at all.

And I think we can all agree that Dave is not a soloist. He plays the same damn arpeggio, and he brings nothing to the solo section. If its going to be on the album, Tim will own the solo on it, which is why I'm excited about this track.

The "solo" Dave was attempting gave insight into a new direction, Dave actually taking chances and putting thought into the songs. Plus Leroi has a solo, and as you said, the song has solid lyrics. I also feel Dave will add a riff to the verse and chorus, and Tim will have a solo, a la Proudest Monkey.

And I'm fine with that, which is why I said earlier that I'd rather have Dave play piano on this than Butch. I like Butch to an extent, but if ADSR is going to impress me in the studio, Dave either needs to play piano, or come up with a riff that will lead the song.

We can at least agree that there is something to be excited about with ADSR, which is something that I couldn't say back in November when I went to the IZOD show.

He never said 100% for sure, but he thought that he was. In all fairness Jake thought the same thing. He said as much in the podcast. He also said he'd understand why so many different inside sources were saying it. Because Jake and Matt heard it from a lot of different places, that's why they themselves thought it was Lillywhite.

Then they looked into it, and found out he wasn't. But they even said there appeared to be some form of communication between Lillywhite and DMB. But I don't see how you can knock Moses for hearing what everyone was hearing around that time.

Listen to OOMH from the tour and then listen to Dave play it at RCMH, there is a HUGE difference.

It's amazing how such a simple song can sound so dead when Butch plays it.

Also, the Mark and Carter jam is better than anything Butch has ever done.

    ^ I agree.

Lets go back to ADSR for a sec..

If Dave can pull off something better on ADSR than what Butch has been playing, wouldn't that satisfy the fans more? Wouldn't we be incredibly excited that Dave is being creative in the studio (with the piano) and moving past the three note OOMH? This song is too good lyrically and musically for Dave to sit in the backround and only play a 3-5 note, 20 second solo on guitar.

That song is pretty boring to me. It's got no DMB quality to it (except carter obviously).
