Re: Doctor Who (Russell T Davies/Steven Moffat)

well and I'm just genuinely shocked, usually in the past for a recast when the rumors have been that persistent, there's a reason for it. So whether the Kris Marshall thing was a very elaborate misinformation crusade from the show itself, or maybe they were partly right and he IS in the new 11th series but he'll be playing the Companion.

Internet is losing their mind over this. So many angry triggered white guys

After one regeneration, didn't he check to see if he had girl parts? I also remember someone mentioning that he had been a girl before or something

well the first thing, that was like a little meta sort of joke poking fun at how wild and poofy Matt Smith's hair was when he first came in in 2011. mind you, David Tennant (who he was regenerating from) also already had some famously spikey hair in the role, but Smith was like times a hundred. And so each time the Doctor regenerates, until he finds a mirror he had no idea what he looks like, and when Smith showed up he started feeling all over his body. When he was on his hair, it was so long he screamed out "oh no I'm a GIRL!!"

but no the Doctor had never had a female regeneration. He technically did have a "daughter", where this one machine snipped out a little bit of his DNA and literally in just a couple minutes made a "clone" of him, but the clone presented as like a 20 year old (hot) blond girl. The episode was aptly titled "The Doctor's Daughter". The kicker was she was played by Georgia Moffat, who David Tennant married and has kids with in real life. But we've never seen that clone character appear again since, and it was like almost 10 years ago. And one of the highest ranking generals in the Gallifreyan (the Time Lords' home planet) army, we saw him regenerate from like a 50ish white male to a 40ish black female in one episode. Then there was dialog that heavily implied most of that Time Lord's previous regenerations had in fact been female, that it was the guy that had sort of been the anomaly.

I know, I'm sure probably way more than you cared to hear

I'm sure you already know, but there's more to this...

Georgia Moffett's father is Peter Davidson, a.k.a. the Fifth Doctor. So not only did the actual Doctor's daughter play the Doctor's Daughter, one Doctor (5th) has another Doctor (10th) as a son-in-law.

Tennant has actually said that the Fifth Doctor is "his Doctor." Now he gets to spend Christmas with him.

    Short answer: No

Longer Answer: No, Peter Capaldi has been the 12th doctor since his debut in the Christmas Special in 2013.

Yes of course, I was just trying to reasonably reign in my nerd-dom and not overwhelm chad with too much info

and yea it's the whole reason why they made that one Red Nose Day short that they did as they did during Tennant's run, when he and the 5th Doctor get like timey-wimey'd stuck within the same Tardis' physical space, and 5 thinks 10 is just a gawking fan
Tennant getting to deliver that "Ya know what... you were my Doctor" with a huge grin, enough even to make a bitter man smile.

then I remember the one meme I saw online several years ago, it was a series of still photos of Georgia with her and Tennant's son and she's asking who his favorite Doctors were. He gives his top 3 I think it was, and Tennant is on there but Davison isn't, and Georgia just looks to the camera going "ehh... sorry, Dad" with a frowny face

The trailer (which may very well be the final one) for the 2017 Christmas special, officially titled Twice Upon A Time

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCkDXegqjR0

and finally confirmation on what most to all figured anyway, this is Pearl Mackie's last episode as Bill. so Chris Chibnall indeed gets both a new Doctor and new Companion to start out with.

also it's been confirmed, news that I know I'm probably in the minority of being happy about, that Jenna Coleman will be making an appearance as Clara. I'm not expecting much, I mean I think Karen Gillan got about a max of 10 seconds screen time in Matt Smith's last episode, just as an appropriate little goodbye. This'll probably be similar. which, maybe there's an outside shot we get Maisie Williams as well... ? since Clara's supposed to have been out galavanting the universe with the Me character, but I doubt it.

I haven't even really gotten into this myself much, but wanted to post it (ya know, for all the rabid Ants DW fans who have this thread immediately at their #1 subscribed thread ) as soon as I'd gotten a link.

The 13th Doctor aka Jodie Whitaker over new dungeon master Chris Chibnall's reign begins!!

edit: well shit, sorta jumped the gun a bit. This was only merely the "teaser" (in every sense of the word) trailer that was played for the World Cup Finals. Just showing Whittaker and the 3 new companions she'll have. We won't be getting any new actual SEASON FOOTAGE until the Comic-Con trailer reveal. duh doy

I could care less about the Doctor being female now, I mean I can't deny I'm not quite as excited about this coming season, but that's nothing to do with the gender... but anyway, having said that, something doesn't quite feel right about them permanently moving it to Sundays now. This thing's been an absolute an early Saturday evening British institution for about 35 of the last 50 years.
