    1969 was a great year.

A personal favorite is Liege & Lief by Fairport Convention. They took trad folk and kicked its ass; although this was more so with their live performances. Then there was Abbey Road and Led Zeppelin I - two flawless albums.

Some great stuff from Nick Drake and others, as people have mentioned.

May be early to call, but BBNG2 is quite a step up from BBNG1. This album is a beast of intense jazz/hip-hop instrumentals, both covers and originals. The fact that BBNG is made of 3 20 year olds is massively awesome and makes me giddy with excitement over their potential future releases. You can find this and their first album for free from their website.

Eh, to me it's a bit less diverse and not quite as much fun. The jazzy interplay is dialed back on a lot of tracks in exchange for mood/atmosphere it seems. And, I don't really care for the Odd Future/Tyler covers. Those beats are dull in the first place, why jam on them for seven minutes? Eh? Yet I still enjoyed it and it had its moments for sure. I'm sure I'll be going back to it but probably not as much as the first mixtape.

That's a great one. Also rare in that its an album where Frank focused entirely on the music and not satire or trying to be funny.

Well first of all, to Kindred. But secondly, I love the repertoire on this second album way more. James Blake, Feist, Kanye, more original material mixed in with a fiercer, fiery approach is plain awesome. I miss the mellower tracks like "Fall In Love" and the Zelda Medley, but I can still always go back to the first mixtape for that. "Flashing Lights," "CMYK," and "UWM" were highlights for me. I'll be jamming this album out for a while.

Yeah, I mean, it's only been out a day. I like the sax and other instrumentation sprinkled into a couple tracks, but I definitely don't think anything on there impressed me like the Zelda cover or "Fall in Love > Improv Jam"

Anais Mitchell gets a p4k review, YOU GO GIRL. She and Mariee Sioux have the best female folk albums of 2012 so far.

disappointed Great Lake Swimmers got a low score, actually got a sum of that one for the car tomorrow. And Lotus Plaza.

Great Lake Swimmers- whatever their album is called. bleh. i was excited for this, now extremely disappointed. the most lifeless/emotionless album ever, an embarrassment. which is funny because there are actually a few pretty good songs just ruined by mediocre melodies and BLAND lyrics. the lyrics don't have to be good when the melody's good, but when the melody is so-so, bad lyrics are the dealbreaker for me. blehhhh this singer is so lame.
