the way that the article you linked is worded, I don't know that I need versions of apps on my computer at all. can I just delete all those without affecting the apps on my phone?

Yes.

But whatever is currently on your iPhone will back up again the next time you... back up.

The mac holds all the old apps that you might have deleted from your phone and all their content.

So, go ahead and delete everything then do an iPhone back up and see how much space you saved.

Also, consider deleting apps from your iPhone that you never use first.

It does indeed. Priced comparatively to the Sonos Play 3, without having to use a separate app, and with Siri. If Siri is even semi-inteliigent, I'll be very excited. I've been waiting to jump into the higher end speaker/assistant/connected home arena, so I'm cautiously optimistic Apple can come through for me.

Anyone do video editing?

I film now in digital, but I found a huge box of Mini DV and Hi8 tapes from my old camcorders years ago and want to import them. (I'll probably have to get new camcorders, I lost my old ones - but I see Mini DV and Hi8 camcorders on eBay for like 20 bucks).

Trying to figure out how to get these to import into iTunes. I'm assuming a composite>HDMI box will be needed then HDMI>Dongle>MacBook Pro 2016.

the way I see it - my 6 has lasted me 3 full years. So if I can squeeze 3 more out of the 8, $300/year isnt so bad.

I'll have to see if I want it or not and what it'll cost me on my bill, that's the key. Mine has been $27 a month on top of my monthly bill so it'll come down to what that cost is for this one. If it's 1000 and I put down 100, then it should be 37 a month for 2 years. That's not too bad.

I think I'm at $45 a month for my 256 7+. I'm definitely going to try to get a smaller capacity one on the 8. I'm not even using half that space.
