Depends. Are you going to wave? Will you take the top off when it's hot outside?

Damn, that sucks. My Cherokee has almost 170,000 miles on it.

I'll just chalk up the negative Jeep comments to ignorant outside opinions. Browse around these boards, or try to tell them their non-Wrangler Jeeps aren't real Jeeps and then say what you will.

Yea, just a loud humming, especially the faster I go. I don't think it's anything bad, just the way they drive. (At least I hope).

They're actually very dependable vehicles. I have a 2000 with 123k and still going strong.

Anyway, it could just be the sound of the Jeep, but if it's making a whirring noise or something unreasonably loud, I'd get it checked out.

I love my Jeep... I drive a '98 Wrangler. It's NEVER had any major problems with it. I have seriously never had to have anything fixed, I've just had to take care of the normal maintenance. I admit I'll complain about the loud, bumpy ride when I have to make long road trips (ie, from South Bend, IN to Corpus Christi, TX last May...) but I wouldn't have it any other way and will drive my car into the ground.

I know this comment was from forever ago, but it's a well known fact that the 4.0L found in most Cherokee's is a bulletproof motor. In most cases, if it doesn't last damn near forever, it wasn't taken care of. You're probably 5 times more likely to find a Cherokee that will go for more than 300k miles than you are to have one have major maintenance performed on one before 100k.

his is black too. It's a total beast. He's kinda pissed that it has a bigger engine than his Escape so he has to pay a lot more for gas, but the thing is so much fun--throw it in to 4WD and go anywhere in the snow.

So ... any other Wrangler owners stupid enough to think that the glove box and middle console actually lock and can't be broken into? Back in 2004 when I first got mine, I was topless and put my CD's, checkbook, and other crap in mine and returned to my Jeep with both broken into. Since then I purchased a metal lockable glove box .. tough lesson to learn though

Yup.... this happened to me. All they got from me was my stereo faceplate and about 5 CDs. I've never gotten the middle console repaired, so I can't lock it anymore anyway. Some of my friends make fun of me because they say I guard my stereo faceplate with my life (because I take it out of the car every time and throw it in my purse, no matter what...), but after having to pay the $100 to replace it once, I'd rather it not happen again.
