Just a very emotional, beautiful piece of music. Definitely in my top 5.

Since I learned that he recorded it at half speed and then sped it up to be the right time, I think of that bit of information every time I hear it now.

Saw Ringo at the Beacon Theater couple months ago.

He made a joke about Paul getting Knighted way before him.

He was really looking forward to this it seems.

Glad to see William do it as well.

Ringo is absolutely one of my favorite drummers of all time. His playing was so distinct, his sense of timing was so sharp, and his fills were so perfect. Just amazing, beautiful little rolls like the intro to 'Something' or the ends of the verses in 'A Day In The Life.' So good and I wish his drumming got more love. Mike Portnoy once pointed out that Ringo is basically the only drummer where you can tell exactly what song you're listening to just by hearing the drum track.

think it was on the making of the plastic ono band album video that the engineer talks about the song God and how amazing Ringos drumming is in that he never plays the same fill twice and from all the takes it was always different because he never played a "part" on the drums, strictly feel.

Pretty psyched about that, one of my favorite album's of Paul's and original copies go for a ton of $$. I hope they did the mastering well! No info on that at all in the press release.

The other choices in this batch of reissues are a bit odd. 'NEW' just came out in 2013 and already has a wide vinyl release. 'Wings Greatest' is a nice comp (used to listen to this one ALL the time back in the day) but all of those songs have pretty much been featured on the Wingspan and Pure McCartney collections. And I'm not sure anyone was clamoring for a re-release of Thrillington but, that one is kinda unique at least.

What I'd really like to see is Off The Ground, Flaming Pie, and Run Devil Run get a nice vinyl reissue treatment.

I certainly wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure. That one has a bunch of great tunes on it but I thought it was a little bloated - trimming a handful of songs would make it a more consistent listen. I absolutely love 'Off The Ground' and I'd consider that one to be way more of a guilty pleasure than Driving Rain.

    PRE-ORDER NOW

Sharing a title with one of Paul’s own paintings, Egypt Station is the first full album of all-new McCartney music since 2013’s international chart-topping NEW. Preceded by two of its tracks just released as double A-sides - plaintive ballad 'I Don’t Know' and raucous stomper 'Come On To Me' - Egypt Station was recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex, and produced (with the exception of one Ryan Tedder track) by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters).

Of the forthcoming album’s enigmatic title, Paul says, “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make... 'Egypt Station' starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”

True to the inspiration behind its title, Egypt Station ’s 14 songs combine to convey a unique travelogue vibe. Between the opening and closing instrumentals 'Station I' and 'Station II', each song finds Paul capturing a place or moment before transporting the listener seamlessly to the next destination. Stops along the way include an acoustic meditation on present day contentedness ('Happy With You'), a timeless anthem that would fit on virtually any album of any McCartney era ('People Want Peace'), and an epic multi-movement closer clocking in at seven minutes with a song suite structure harkening back to the days of Paul’s previous combos ('Despite Repeated Warnings'). The result is a kaleidoscopic journey through myriad musical locales and eras, yet firmly rooted in the here and now - with Paul’s singular unmistakeable melodic and lyrical sensibility serving as a guide.
