Haha The Grateful Dead had two drummers. I've never quite understood it, as a drummer myself, but there are some bands that have done it.

Saw where Ed is playing a festival (Pilgrimage Music Festival) not too far from us. Thinking about going to see him. I adore his solo albums and would love to hear some of the uke songs live.

The Into the Wild soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. It's therapeutic to listen to while I hike.

It really is phenomenal. My only complaint is some of the songs feel short. Hard Sun is among my top 5 songs ever.

Funny, I'm listening to this album on the headphones while at work as I type this.
Love this album, I don't know if it's because of the movie or what, but I get a little melancholy listening to it sometimes.
And on the extended version "Here's to the State" could have lost a few choruses IMHO

I love that song. I cover it every once in a while. Have you ever heard the original? It's pretty close to the one Eddie does. I've been doing a lot of "soul searching" lately since my wife and I went out west last summer. "Don't like my job, what else can I be doing with my life?", that sort of thing, and that album is so good for exploring that part of your mind (herb helps too). "Rise" really hits home for me as well. nothing like some herb, the dog, Into the Wild soundtrack and a walk in the woods.

This is partially why I love the album. The first time I heard it I was BAKED, more baked than I had ever been at the time, and I remember at one point during one of the songs looking at my friend, smiling and saying "I think I'm stoned." She smiled and just said "Good." It was a blissful moment.

The music just made everything about that entire day so much better. What I'd give to go back to that day and live it over and over again.

That's awesome. I know the kind of moment you're referring to. Few albums take me to another place like that one, but when you get there it's pretty amazing.

Saw the HOF speech this morning. Man Letterman looks scary. Nice to see Dave Krusen. I guess he guested on Alive during the short setlist. A much deserved induction.

Crazy to think of Ed as a security guard, watching Letterman overnight while at work, becoming buddies with Jack Irons and to see them all almost 30 years later together at the HOF....life is funny sometimes.

well this is one of several videos up taken of the events last night (this particular guy, mfc1972, is like a youtube legend for all his PJ vids) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEhwRkxUyZI

but I'm like barely 4 minutes in and I don't think I'm going to keep watching it. The sound is AWFUL. once Letterman comes on, some woman is very close to the guy shooting the video and SHE DOES NOT STOP "WOOOOOOOO!!"'ING THE ENTIRE FUCKING TIME. I don't think I want this to be my first of hearing the whole ceremony. just going to wait for an official broadcast.

I saw a decent quality one this morning and the filmographer didn't make any noises. It wasn't the best quality like HBO will have but it's decent.

happen to still know the link?

tho the one I put up above there, for what it's worth it's not the person who was shooting the video that was the problem. It was just some woman in the crowd who sounds like she was no more than about 20 feet away from the microphone and she just kept overreacting to the tiniest little thing.

Plus, and I totally concede I might be the weirdo for thinking this, but after all these years, and especially when the whole point is it's the band as a whole that's getting recognized here, I got a little annoyed when I started to hear the "Edd-ie! Edd-ie! Edd-ie!" chant by a bunch of people. I don't know, it's like what do you think you're at a Bieber concert or something?

Not sure how much stock to put in this, but Oak View Group (OVG) working with the folks that renovated MSG and the Forum in LA for music to renovate KeyArena in Seattle, and they claim there's serious interest from PJ for a residency.

Are they realizing there's no way to avoid TM/LN?

I tell ya any lasting respect I may have had for Dave A, I'm pretty sure it's now entirely gone. He's just gone into full on whiny bitching baby territory with the statements he stiiiiiiiiiiill keeps making on the whole R&RHOF issue. Remember the tweet the band issued saying they'd perfectly welcome all of the previous drummers to the event? yea well, that didn't literally have the word "invite" included in it, so Dave A was a little offended by that, though even if he was given a specific, personalized invitation, he wouldn't have attended.

    http://www.wjbdradio.com/music-news/...ction-ceremony

so gee, I can't help but notice the only of the band's previous drummers who departed because of anything other than something medically related (Krusen had to go into rehab, and Jack was having some sort of nerve issue with his arms if I remember right), where it was something personality related, is the ONLY ONE still causing a big stink over it. You had Krusen and Cameron there as proper inductees, and Irons happy to be there, even sitting in on one song. The only problem with Chamberlain is he had a scheduling problem, otherwise he'd of been glad to be there and the band happy to have him.

for those interested, just PJ's portion of the official HBO show of the whole HoF ceremony

It's still not technically the ENTIRE thing, they cut some out of both Dave's intro and some of the band members' individual thank you speeches (including Stone doing what I think was listing off literally every single member of their roadies crew ) but it's still like 90%, and you don't have an annoying chick "woooo!"'ing during the whole thing.
and it hadn't occurred to me how old Ed's daughters would both be by now. Like the last thing I remember of seeing at least one of them included was the official footage for that one show in Spain, but that was now several years ago. The oldest one, I'm guessing she's probably at least like 15 now? they're both gonna be gorgeous like their mom when they grow up.

oh and the other thing I meant to mention, right at the very end of the performance Ed yells out like "hello Cleveland!" Because that's where the R&RHOF is, isn't it? and yet, this whole ceremony took place in Brooklyn. but like when the major sports have their hall of fame induction ceremonies (at least for baseball) they definitely take place at where the museum actually is.
