That should be a great opening game for you guys. Pretty cool you get the Sunday night spotlight game - a lot more people around the country will be aware of you guys if you win that one, as opposed to last year where you were majorly flying under the radar even with a 6-0 start.

Yeah it should be a cool atmosphere. Gonna try to be there but still not sure if I can make it happen.

Really wish it was a home and home series though. Ive never been to blacksburg. I really didnt enjoy going to Fed Ex for the first time for that BYU game last season. Its a fucking nightmare trying to get in and out of there, its in a shitty area and the stadium itself seriously sucks. But with that said Ive never attended a WVU/VT game so I really dont wanna miss it.

A few advanced stat models that I have seen REALLY don't like West Virginia this year. I don't claim to know much about their team but it basically says they are losing a TON of their production last year and don't have the recruiting impact to counter it. I'm not sure how much transfers like Will Grier are incorporated into the algorithm.

And the same models had West Virginia as more like an 8-win team last year, so them over-achieving that could just be a sign of good coaching and a disciplined team, which could be repeatable, or it could be a sign of some lucky breaks last year that may not repeat. I honestly didn't watch them at all last year except for their opener against Mizzou, for which my takeaway was more Mizzou = Bad than anything about West Virginia.

Only spot were depleted at is WR. But we got a transfer (David Sills) who is gonna step right in.

Weve got a great O line, RB group, obviously a good QB.
Biggest losses on defense are Noble Nwachukwu and Rasul Douglas... but in the secondary were getting our best CB back (Dravon Henry) who missed all of last year with a knee injury, and weve added some depth in JUCO guys which Holgorsen has a great track record with.

Biggest thing Im worried about is our run defense and D line.

Im still sticking with my 9 win projection but I think we have a high ceiling to get to the B12 title game. Have to avoid any bad losses and beat the Pokes to do that though.

Yeah the only people excited for that game are the people who probably wont play in it. It's so fucking stupid. These last 2 years the OU-OSU game was the de facto Big 12 CCG, and now we'd just be playing each other again the very next week. For what reason?

This is just another opportunity for the Big 12 to fuck itself over with respect to the national title race. Until the conference is 12 teams with divisions, this is DUMB.

I do think it would be absolutely hilarious if somehow a loss in the Big12 championship game was the event that knocked a presumptive Big 12 playoff rep out of the playoff.

And if the game was a repeat of Bedlam played one week prior. And the Big12CG loser was the winner one week earlier.

The best part is that the Big 12 voted to do this because they thought not having a CCG was the reason they were being left out of the playoff. (Like Baylor or TCU in 2014) Now they're gonna install a dumbshit championship game in a conference that already does a round-robin where everyone plays everyone...no doubt the conference leader will eventually lose in the CCG game and knock the Big 12 out of the playoff, and it will all be b/c of this CCG they voted for.

And the Big 12 will vote to cancel the championship game afterwards.

The reality is that the teams in the Big12 without the championship game were in the same spot as every other team in every other conference. Go undefeated and you're in the playoff. One loss and you'll need some help from various criteria above and beyond a conference championship game.

scrapping divisions is a good idea along with fixing OOC games.

Dont really see why anyone would be against those. The SEC example he used still gave each team 3 rivals they play every year.

Why?

There is room for vast improvement to make the sport better and more competitive. I dont even see how anything proposed would affect "gameday in the south"


Not to mention there has been lots of change over the past decade +
