I wasn't much younger than you when the Avs won... 2001, so I was like 16. I remember I had to work that night so I had my dad record the game (Yeah, back with a blank VHS tape on the VCR ). Luckily this was before the internet was super prevalent so I made it through the night not knowing who won. When I walked in the door to our house after my shift, I came in yelling, "SHUT UP!!! DON'T SAY ANYTHING!!!" then took the tape and watched it as if it was live. I remember unabashedly crying - a 16 year old kid - as I watched Joe hand Ray the Cup.

Oh man, I have every win from 1998 on tape at my parents house, assuming my mom didn't throw them out. I need to get a converter and get those in digital form. 2002 I was such a dork, my parents didn't have cable and while I got CBC, it wasn't a great picture like ABC was. So I had my girlfriend record the CBC version at her house and I got the ABC feed at mine. lol Probably still have those somewhere too.
Yeah I can't imagine trying to not find out a score these days. internet, smart phones and just media in general, you can't escape it.
