Can someone tie the 1st season and the 2nd season together for me, if they're related at all? I watched the 1st season but i don't remember names.

The guy (Hank) who ran the diner in Season 1 is the state trooper from Season 2. In season 1, he referenced the "Sioux Falls massacre," which appears to be happening at some point in Season 2.

I think two...the youngest garhardt brother and then the native american saw something in the sky too if I am not mistaken...There may have been a reference too from betsy

It can keep going however they want. They don't need to keep characters around season to season. That's not what this show is about. Basically (until this point at least) you could watch the seasons in isolation from the movie and each other and it doesn't change much other than small notes and tidbits.
