Now that would be a monstrous encore.
Maybe they were listing Bartender/WAYG as a kind of either or (even though they both got scrapped). I'm wondering where the Dave solo E1 has gone though...seems kind of odd.

It's cool, was just trying to clear any confusion. Songs like a long ride back, have a safe drive.

Just got in from work.....what the heck happened tonight? That setlist is.......just plain odd. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy they're mixing it up this year but...song placement was just all over the place. And Big Whiskey seems to be staying.....unfortunately.

Also, uggh, just listened to the LW, and realize you can hear me explaining things to my girlfriend (it was her second DMB concert) and also to the folks next to me who were asking questions. Sorry about that. Last night, the videos didn't pick up all my talking.

*Gaucho has been released for 24 hours and played twice live and you already "hate" it. That's not just sad, it's pathetic.
Personally, I think this post isn't getting the attention it deserves. Quality post.

Two Step helped at the end, but with a set like this, they need to mix in warehouse, crash into me, crush, typical, lie in our graves, BOWA... I could go on and on obviously, but you get my point. It needs to be better. And 15 songs? That's not enough.
Just on this point alone, you couldn't be more wrong!

Check out this show or any other 98 fall tour show...11 song main set, 2 song encore, 13 total songs...tonight was 17 songs you can see a show with 4 less songs than tonight but the set obviously changes people perception.

    http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...=22&where=1998

If DMB came out tonight and played this kinda set, people would still complain.

Even a totally different set from todays era, with only 13 songs but an insane set, you'd get people complaining im sure.

The biggest thing A LOT of people forget, almost every DMB show is only a few songs away from being basically flawless, even without rarities, just swap 4 songs from last night that are DMB standard classic tunes they could play without any practice, about the same length as the tunes they played last night, and that set instantly becomes awesome.

    Loved this show.

It was great to see the first full band Save Me (always has been one of my favorite jams) and Out Of My Hands (I love that song).

The end of Two Step was MONSTROUS, that jam at the end seriously melted my face.

The encore wasn't bad, it's always cool to hear Too Much.

Missing the Dave Solo E1 spot, maybe it's due to more of his solo stuff being rotated into the main setlist? I dunno.

Anyways, I filmed Too Much, Gaucho, and Mercy. I'm uploading my vids now too, we'll see how they turn out.

3D screens? At one point relatively early in the set, I noticed that the red-and-blues in the center screen looked split out like in a 3D movie. But I thought that was an equipment malfunction, and it went away pretty quick.

The point is with so many people complaining about this set being awful, were quick to forget thats really all it takes to make it a near perfect show. Swapping 3 or 4 songs is all it takes, and to say this set is crap as a whole is pretty ridiculous.

    Thanks. I appreciate it.
Negativity sucks, & DMB has never been about negativity.

***Thinks to self, "Want to see a SHORT show? Last time I saw Aerosmith they played for 45 minutes for their $50. He continues...***

I think we should all be grateful that DMB still exists at all, these days, and not pissing & moaning & nitpicking over the first two nights' set lists.
Music is not an exacting science, it is an art form, & it evolves-
Some people here would do well to remember that, and evolve with it, or be left behind.

I started trading DMB on CASSETTE... Way, WAY back when hell was frozen over and your cel average phone didn't record in stereo & 720p high-def video & the tapers lugged in massive gear setups... Then CDs and ultimately CD burners came about... And FLAC files... And now here we are, it seems like only yesterday...

Be grateful for what you (we) have, it's all only temporary, you see...

Maybe it was a malfunction. Someone tweeted a pic of the screen when it happened and said it was 3D

My dad and I just returned from the show, my 35th, his 14th. After last night I was thinking tonight was going to be the better of the two. Tonight was hands down the worst DMB show I've been to. Absolutely no flow, I don't know how they wrote that setlist out and decided "this is going to jam." I am always thankful to see a DMB show but I would have stayed home tonight if I would have known that was going to be the set. Planning on going to Mansfield night 2 in a few weeks but I'm seriously having 2nd thoughts unless these sets don't pick up!

Sorry if I'm being pessimistic but that was not what I expected from the band I have been in love with for the last 12 years.

Yeah, I was asking my buddy if he knew and we both thought it was, checked Almanac when we got back and yep.

I thought the audience participation Jimi Thing was fun too.

Sorry if I'm being pessimistic but that was not what I expected from the band I have been in love with for the last 12 years.
yeah just watched the Loving Wings opener, very awkward.

Sorry for the quality, shitty iPhone video
Gaucho, should be HD, well as HD as an iPhone can do.

Some thoughts after seeing the setlist:

--This set is really weird. It's on an AC N1 level of weird. Regardless of whether it's "good" or "bad," this set is undeniably strange.

--If every show had a setlist like this, I could learn to like it. However, it seems unfair to me that the band will then turn around and bust out a show like AC N3 a few nights later. In that case, I thought it was okay because it was a multi-night stand, and the diehards would probably prioritize N3 anyways. If future one-night stands on this tour get sets like AC N3, though, then that strikes me as unfair. In my perfect world, every one-off show would have a few more "classics."

--For everyone hating on this set like crazy: go to less shows. Seriously. In 2013, just buy a ticket to your closest show, and don't do any traveling. I might be flipping a shit if I spent $$$ on a plane ticket to get to this show from out of state. If this was my one show of the summer, though, and I had just paid for tickets and a night at a hotel, I'd be more likely to look on the bright side and be happy about seeing Two Step, Nancies, Jimi Thing, SDL, and Too Much (I haven't listened to the Gaucho and Mercy recordings yet, so I can't pass judgment on those). Seeing a bunch of decent songs and a few great songs is definitely worth $75 to me, but it's not worth $500.

This is all my personal opinion. If you were at the show, and you enjoyed it, then that's great, and more power to you. Not trying to be too negative or anything.

It's not ridiculous at all. Just because a few changes are all it takes to completely alter the view of a given set doesn't mean those changes don't make a huge difference.

I seriously feel bad for the good folks that traveled for this weekend, they did not see anything special at all. We have gotten some great shows in the past but there was nothing to write home about this year!
