Re: Two New Albums?

Eh, I really hope they keep it to a full band album. DMB is so much better as DMB... Dave is great, they all are, but it's the combination that makes it such phenomenal music.

i dont think thats what its about, i think some of us "diehard" fans are tired of other "fans" criticizing every recording since lillywhite sessions, if you want to here dmb do everything exactly the same listen to the old albums, if you want to here new music with a different feel, here it comes.

I really feel sorry for people who think UTTAD, Crash, BTCS, and LWS all sound the same. It was an amazing evolution for the band.

they should really just put out another disc later that has 6 or 7 b-sides from this session and 6 or 7 from stand up. basically anything they've recorded in the last 3 years that they aren't gonna use.

this disc could easily be better than stand up. we know the stand up b-sides will probably be, because we know there was some great stuff that didn't get used.

if they want to record brand new stuff everytime they go in the studio, fine. how about in the non "new record" years, they put out eps or lps with studio cuts of all the songs they wrote on the road that won't be making the next album anyway.

RHCP was decent - but there's way too much filler and crap... if it was condensed to one cd, it could have been one of their best.

Foo Fighters double album was about as disposable as double albums get.
Nine Inch Nails The Fragile was a great double album.

I'm not talking about the possibility of a double album. That ship is never going to sail on the seas of Dave Matthews in my opinion. I'm just asking if you think its possible that they could release this upcoming album, and then shortly after release a Dave Matthews solo album.

Haha. Despite the fact that I live and die by the Dave, I just mean that people put too much stock in what they think the band is gonna do. No one lets it happen. So many people want to know what they are getting and right now. It just kills the whole process...and I wanted to make fun of Hannah Montana

ive yet to meet anyone that says they sound the same, what i was trying to say was that everyone wants albums similiar to the old ones and if they arent similiar to the old ones they are busts, which is complete bull shit. stand up might not be as strong as BTCS, but some songs from Stand Up are amazing live, such as Louisiana Bayou and Hunger For The Great Light, if DMB kept producing stuff that sounded like Crash BTCS and LWS all the concerts would sound the same.

    because people will bitch.
They will say "they already played those songs live a bunch of times, why waste time recording a studio version of it."

    *cough* granny *cough*

So if they have why not release it then take it on the road and see what it turns into.

    See Stand Up.

and I wasnt talking about roadtesting to the point where Cornbread and #27 were, I just mean atleast take their time and rework them so that they become album ready. This way we can have a few great albums instead of one average double album.

    Re: Two New Albums?

I haven't read through all these posts, but I like what Counting Crows recently did with their album -- two producers for two different sounds/styles, but one good CD. You don't need a "double" album for that to work. Imagine if DMB worked with a new producer for the first six songs, then the second "side" was with someone they've worked with in the past?

    Re: Two New Albums?

I'm thinking that it's not too likely (in reference to the main question of the thread, not the last post). Sure, Dave's going to do another solo at some point, but what I'd really, really like to see is a Dave and Tim album. Now that would be awesome. Maybe a bit of a dream, but awesome nonetheless.
