Re: Official Howard Stern Show discussion thread

Nice to hear the O&A love on here... Wonder if Stern'll sign off with "Your mom's box" I also have to question the 20,000 number; not sure where that was from or how you'd estimate it. Besides, look how much XM's subscribers have grown. Stern invented subscribers... Hoo hoo. Tell 'em Fred. Hoo hoo. Rahhh-bin.

I met O&A a few years ago at a Digital Life convention. They were okay....pretty nice guys.

But I have Sirius just for Howard.

It was in one of the Radio Industry rags about three months ago - it was online - a link from an article on Satellite Radio - I believe it was linked off of thestreet.com.

XM's subscribers were already on the climb when O&A jumped on board. The gist of the article was saying that each channel in satellite radio is perpetually tracked for listenership - at any time, the general manager can bring up on his computer how many people are listening to channel 203 or channel 204 - which makes it easy to adjust advertising rates rather than wait for the monthly ratings on "old fashioned" radio.

According to the article, O&A were averaging about 20,000 listeners during their peak morning time.

I'm a huge O&A fan - I'm not trying to cause any trouble. It will be interesting to see what Stern can do for Sirius. As you may know, Sirius is now signing up more subscribers on a monthly basis than XM is - Sirius passed them in August - XM still has more subscribers, but they should both have the same subscriber numbers in about 12 months.

O&A are in a little bit of trouble again, a fan fucked up there Assault on the Media bit and took it a little overboard, he actually supposely hurt the reporter by blowing a airhorn in the reporters ear.

Basically for those who don't listen to O&A this bit basically was a promotional type of bit, people were only suppose to like hold a sign up during a live shot and yell out "O&A on XM" or something like that but one of the rules was that they can't touch or injure the reporter in anyway.

And I just watched Stern on O'Reilly, man he's a lying sack of shit, I like Stern but he lies right out of his ass.

But I wouldn't be shocked if thats the number but its growing more and more as XM has started a big advertisement push for the show. I for one listen to the afternoon replays cause I'm at work when its live.

For one thing, dammit!! I've missed yet another of Howard's media appearances. Second, you care to back that up? Why exactly is he a "lying sack of shit"?

I had a feeling that O'Reilly was going to rip into Stern, and he did.

in the past, O'Reilly and Stern got along pretty well, O'Reilly has been on Stern a few times. But after Stern got all political, he went after O'Reilly, and that was a big mistake.

Howard comes off as a bully when he threatens to beat up O'Reilly, and I think his strategy during the interview is backfiring. O'Reilly was pigeon-holing Howard on the main topic (and the topic I'm most interested in knowing): does $12.95 buy me curse words out of your mouth, or will the content change. It's a very legit question, and Howard danced around it twice yesterday.

I thought Howard did fine on O'Reilly.

O'Reilly was being a prick and I don't blame Howard for threatening him. I think when Howard said that if your act is only cursing you are in a lot of trouble, that was the answer.

Does Howard need to announce the bits he'll be doing? O'Reilly needs to give Howard a hard time so he can pretend he has credibility.

Howard Stern is the man, end of story. People who say his guest are whore, porn-stars, etc. are crazy, he has had some great people come on his show, and its always hilarious. People will either love him or hate him, just like most things in New York.

O'Reilly is a joke, he just raises his voice when preaching to his brain-washed masses. At least Stern is consistent in what he fights for, not just following the herd like O'Reilly.

O'Reilly is ripping himi about $13 a month when O'Reilly does nothing but pimp his own garbage on his show - ALL NIGHT LONG.

tonite's interview was very good. Howard was very honest during it. It was better than the 60 minutes one I thought.

I am a Stern guy, not O&A. I am looking forward to my Sirius present on the 25th...

Having said that, my friend has XM and I have / do listen to O&A and think they are ok. However, the above bold has GOT to be bullshit and kinda confirms that O&A may not have that many listeners. I can not imagine that XM doesn't do the easiest thing in the world and track their listeners. Even if they publicily claim the above, it makes no sense for XM to not simply track viewers. They can program all of their channels better with this information.

Damn I wouldn't mind to be getting a Sirius piece on the 25th, I suppose I should resign myself now to the fact that I'm gonna miss the 1st satellite show

Anyhow, is there any chance in the world that someone out there has a recording of the Cindy Lauper in-studio appearance a few years ago singing "True Colors", whether from a few minutes ago (them replaying it while remembering their best moments) or whenever in the past?

Sirius is more than worth the 12.95/month, even without Stern being there.

Yes. Howard's replacements around the country start on Jan 3rd, but the actual Howard crew doesn't start on Sirius until Jan 6th.

And Sean was correct, the current price of $12.95/month for the service INCLUDES both Howard channels (which are already broadcasting, btw, just not with Howard actually on them, or anyone who's still under contract with Infinity), there's no extra fee for him.

Lastly, you can go here to check out about 5 extra minutes of the 60 Minutes segment: http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_vi...annel=60Sunday

That's where all of their online videos are, just scroll down the menu on the left to find the Howard stuff. It features interview footage with both Baba Booey and Robin.

Oh as much as I've totally fallen in love with those show over the last several years, I never could stand Robin. She kisses Howard's ass so continuously it's sickening, I swear to god the first post-show activity that has to occur everyday before they all go home is her lips getting surgically removed from his pasty white ass with the jaws of life And so often you're listening while they're discussing whatever, and it's like without even a hesitation of a thought she just goes right ahead and agrees with what he's saying.

But speaking of hatred.... is there ANYONE who downright loathes Ralph Cirella as much as I? GOOD GAAAWWWD, he is such a monumental douchebag it's just staggering. For one thing -- and don't get me wrong, I'm fully aware of what kind of looks I've got and would like to think I'm realistic about it -- but this cat is so butt-Fugly, and yet when they have him in studio for whenever they're evaluating some girl or model or whatever, and the nerve he's got to sit back with his wannabe scraggily Howard-hair and criticize an absolutely beautiful woman and tell her she could lost 10lbs or whenever, I just wanna reach thru my fucking radio and strangle him.

And I know it would never happen, but I wish Howard could wise up. I mean we hear it more and more it seems all the time, where people either calling in or writing to say Ralph is easily the WORST part of the show, to please never allow him on the air, just get rid of him totally. He's just got such inane opinions about everything. ugh god... he annoys the hell outta me
