You can also read, of course, the issue for which the movie namesake comes (Amazing, 1, 252).
I just meant across the whole universe, not necessarily for this movie. even if the comic storyline takes place well after, I'm sure they will still force in some origin stuff. they apparently did in BvS too. I'm just wondering what the thought process is there

Even if they do the black suit aspect of Homecoming, there is no secret wars. They could still do aspects of an origin and not have the movie focus on it.

Batman v Superman borrowed from The Dark Knight Returns, but still had Bruce's origin in the movie. This film will not be about how Peter becomes Spider-Man, but that doesn't mean it won't have a flashback a la BvS.

Even Age of Ultron and Civil War, based on famous comic storylines, are not straight adaptations.

Do you like Spidey in general? I have faith Marvel studios will finally get it right. He's too important to the Marvel universe to be the abomination he became.

I think the thinking is that it's always someone's first Batman/Superman/Spider-Man movie, no matter how recent the last origin story was, and if you want your movie to function as a self-contained entity, you shouldn't have to rely on any other media to understand why characters are the way they are.

Unfortunately, putting it in the new movie results in us having seen the same origin story for the 3rd time in 15 years... but when I show my kids the MCU movies in 10 years when they are old enough to watch, and it's their first exposure to Spiderman because I'm not going to subject them to the other crap, it will be helpful for some of that backstory to be there.

So I guess my answer is they did it for my kids?

Secret Wars was 12 issues, released May 1984 to April 1985.

Homecoming was in the Amazing Spider-Man Volume 1, #252, released in May of 1984.

However, "Homecoming" falls after Secret Wars, when Spider-Man returns from Secret Wars with his new outfit.

My theory is that since Secret Wars and Civil War are both Marvel "events", the movie "Homecoming" will follow Peter after he returns from Civil War, and not Secret Wars, if I had to guess. Since the title features him returning from a major event, they could do this. It wouldn't line up with the comics, but it could work.

I'm pretty sure he was making a joke about the fact that the statement "Homecoming falls after Secret Wars" had been mentioned 3 times in a single page (not just by you).

Excited for this although not too sure I like the report that there will be 3 villains.

At least the MCU knows how to make proper comic book movies. So I guess I should have faith in them.

But yeah, the sequel was just terrible.
I haven't watched the original Spider-Man movies in a long time, but I thought Amazing Spider-Man was one of, if not the best Spider-Man movie to date. I thought Garfield was a much better Peter Parker and Spider-Man.

Makes sense they have some pre-Civil War ground to cover, and I know they said it won't be an origin story, but I hope they don't spend too much time on pre-Civil War Spidey.

I dig how they did homemade suit, better than Toby's.
