That would be THE best! Last season my boyfriend at the time tried to teach me....it did NOT go well....he has little patience and wanted to ski (he is really good) - so he just ended up putting my skis between his and doing it all - I just kinda stood there for the ride - LoL.....even though it was sweet of him - I wanna do it by myself!

Where is winter park?

HAHA if you want to learn how to ski right you have to come out west, the snow up there isn't worth my time.

I never said I don't agree. I just think if people chose not to wear a jacket because they think its not cool because of the brand...then you're a pretentious retard. Maybe some of them are a little too concerned with style. Which I think is idiotic.

I'm kinda bummed no one has ever shown my snowboard thread any love:

    http://www.antsmarching.org/forum/sh...d.php?t=216095

I can't wait to go riding this season! I have been ordering shit left and right while sitting in my office the past couple weeks. I have a new Burton padded Gig bag coming today...

I just bought a new setup back in April and it's pretty sick:
    -08 Burton Custom X 159W board
    -08 Burton Cartel bindings
    -08 Burton Andy Warhol Boots

    I've got Foursquare jacket/pants.

The closest mountain to me is Big Bear, which is decent, but nothing spectacular. Our favorite place to ride, however is Mammoth. I'll definitely make it up there half a dozen times this season.

My girlfriends sister lives in Denver and we'll definitely make it out to Vail and Copper Mountain a few times as well.

It's getting closer, only about 2-3 until the snow stays!

Also, anybody ever ridden Mt. Hood in Portland? I'm going in January but haven't booked lodging yet, just curious if you know a good place to stay.

you must not ride that often b/c snowboarding is mostly all about style.. from the clothes you wear to how tweaked out you can make your stalefish 360

Sorry...didn't mean any offense. I don't care what you wear. If it is more comfortable or you just like it better thats cool. No I don't ride that often. Yes I know snowboarding is about style. I think style is highly highly overrated. That is all.

They're great boots, really similar to the Shaun White's but the have butcher knives all over them (they match my black/red Custom X, you're right about the style thing) and they have air cushioning vs. gel cushioning in the SW's.

you can get either for $150 here, pretty damn good price:

This will be my third season skiing. I rent my skis from the local ski shop, as I'm not quite prepared to make the investment in my own.

I hated it at first, and even made my girlfriend at the time cry on the mountain as she was trying to explain how to do it.

But now I love it, and I even attempted my first double-black last winter, only to fall and screw up my ankle for six months.

Yeah, it's def. expensive but, like your 03 Forum, if you buy quality stuff it lasts for a long time.

It's all about buying the previous year's models for snowboard gear. All of the 08/09 stuff just came out and is selling at full MSRP. IMO you'd have to be crazy to pay that.

I bought my new setup in April 08, it's all 07/08 model year stuff, and I paid about 50% off MSRP. Right now is the worst time to buy new gear unless you can still find closeouts on stuff from last season.

    I wish I had more money . . . skiing is definitely not a poor-man's endeavor.

That said, I'm in the market for new skis. Craigslist better deliver. And I'm stoked about Warren Miller's "Children of Winter." I'm also hoping to check out Teton Gravity Research: Under the Influence tonight at Neumo's in Seattle.

My roommate, who is from Colorado, was talking about Warren Miller's movies and how they'd always watch them before trips to get pumped. Are any of them snowbaording only, or heavily snowboarding vs. skiing?

Also, I highly recommend that everyone go rent First Descent. SICK movie. Shaun White, Hannah Teter, Terje Haakonsen... all of the best riders dropping in on untouched Alaskan mountains from a helicopter. Also has a good history of the sport woven in, I could watch it over and over:

Not sure about this . . . all the WM I've seen have both, but tend to have more skiing. Regardless of your mode of downhill transport, they're kickass.

you probably can't go wrong with any of them, but Journey (his 54th film!) was the last one that I watched, and it was badass. also check out http://www.skinet.com/warrenmiller/ to see if his latest film (Children of Winter) is showing near you (a ticket gets you some pretty sweet deals, usually, too)

^^ yeah that is a damn good price... about $100 off..

I tend to forget every year how much new equipment costs... I still ride my forum board that i got in '03... I love that damn board, never will I get rid of it
i'm still using my skis that i got in '01 or '02 i think it was. i love em. i can flyyyyyyy down the mountain with them. still waiting to ski with someone who can keep up with me it'll be time for new skis soon though, i want something that's more all-mountain, as mine are made more so for groomed trails. however, new equipment is fuuuuuucking expensive.

He actually blended snowboarding into his movies as the revolution came about. It's a very nice balance in all of the movies now.

That said, I'm in the market for new skis. Craigslist better deliver. And I'm stoked about Warren Miller's "Children of Winter." I'm also hoping to check out Teton Gravity Research: Under the Influence tonight at Neumo's in Seattle.

Storm has a track from DMB in it...It's a good recent movie.

If you want a classic, go for blizzard of oz.

If you are looking for a more technical movie check out Endless winter.

Some really amazing snowboard movies that everyone should check out:
