Checked the schedule when it came out and was bummed we weren't going to have a chance to see the Cubs this year. But it must not have shown the preseason, because I just found out they are playing their last 2 spring training games at Minute Maid here in Houston in 9 days. Anyone been to one of these stadium warm up games right before the season starts? I'm hoping they aren't that well attended.

A lot of the stories I've read said Cubs intend to go with an 8 man pen. Meaning they probably want another LHP to go with Duensing. Apparently Wood is still in the mix, and I'm guessing they'll sign another righty. Guys like Zastryzny are going to Triple A to start. If they do stick with an 8 man pen, and Soler is now gone, it opens up the last bench spot for La Stella or Szczur.

Hopefully the Cubs can find a way to sign Tyson Ross.
Wasn't Zobrist the MVP of the Series? And he's on the bench?

ordered my Rossy autobiography. Forward by Theo. Almost bought The Plan but want to read Rossy's life, including w/the Red Sox and then of course with the Cubs.

Just re watched game 7. Joe maddon got really really really lucky that our team was better. He had an awful game 7. Truly awful.

It doesn't matter. But my god.

It pisses me off he can't acknowledge any kind of shortcoming in his decision making, right after contradicting himself. "That was the plan all long" Bringing Lester in a dirty inning was never the plan. And he clearly was affected by all the Andrew Miller can pitch anytime talk and it affected the way he pitched Chapman, stupidly.

I liked Maddon a lot, and while game 7 would have tarnished that a bit, he hurt himself more by worrying so much about how much credit he would receive. He knows he fucked up. Own it, laugh it off and thank the players for bailing your stupid ass out.

Anytime he had a decision to make I feel that he fucked it up in game 7. It was infuriating.

Yeah, Maddon had a bad game 7. I wouldn't want any other manager though. He is the perfect fit for a young group like this. The Cubs won the World Series, so I'm not sure why that's all anyone talks about in this thread anymore.

I'm excited to see if Almora can run away with the starting job in CF. I haven't been really high on him for a while now, but the way he played this spring has changed my view. With the rapid success that other prospects had in recent years, it was easy to write him off. It may have taken him longer than the others, but if he can be a good hitter with that defense the Cubs have something special for a long time.

    Just listened, great interview.

There are so many cubs that I would love to have a beer (or 10) with, but Schwarber is at the top of the list.

Dexter with the leg whip slide into Addy. I guess when you become a Cardinal you have to play like that.

I hate losing on a walkoff, but it was nice to see Contreras with the big homer to tie it in the 9th. Martinez was pretty great today. On to the next game.

Well that sucked, but oh well.

Weird seeing Fowler in red. I also thought it was funny how Matheny asked Fowler how to be like Maddon.

Fuck the cardinals, but Fowler immediately apologized for it. Seems like it was just a in-the-moment play.

Really like Almora, think he will have a solid year with the bat too.

Schwarber looks like he is going to do damage every single time he is up. His strikeout was a great at bat (bad strike 3 call) and his line-out was crushed.

KB never really looks like he is pressing at the plate and is usually a cool customer, but he was definitely expanding his zone in STL. Hopefully he can relax after they took 2/3 in STL and the season is starting off well for the team.
