Re: Zac Brown Band - any fans?

Damn, "Bittersweet" is a great song. Gets me all teary-eyed almost every time I hear it. Very powerful. The more I listen to Jekyll + Hyde, the more I like it. Still can't get into "Beautiful Drug", though. I skip it almost every time it comes on, although I hear it a decent amount because my girlfriend loves it .

Besides the fact he played it in a lower octave and they didn't really play the bridge correctly (Zac didn't play that riff at all), pretty solid version and looked like everyone was loving it

They killed it. I love how they work covers into their sets - it's so unusual for a band of their fame. The show was great, I highly recommend seeing them

    Fridays show had:
Led zeppelin - kashmir / Charlie Daniels Band - Devil went down to georgia
    Dave Matthews Band - stay
Marshall Tucker Band - long hard ride
    Queen - bohemian rhapsody

Going to Citi Field tonight, so pumped. If anyone else is going, the fiancee and I will be tailgating from around 3 or so until showtime.

New single back to country roots as opposed to EDM. I dig it.

Christ, another tearjerker! Good to see them getting back to their old style. Jekyll and Hyde was very hit or miss. This is a good sign for their new album.

That's a nice little tune. Definitely prefer that version of ZBB to some of the Jekyll and Hyde stuff. That album had some cool tunes but a LOT of misses for me.

Yeah I hope he transitions that electronic sound to Sir Rosevelt and returns to the old school sound of ZBB.

I liked most of Jekyll and Hyde, but there are some turds on that album IMO.

Jekyll & Hyde was kinda like, "look what we can do". Definitely a talented group of musicians, but I like the traditional ZBB.

Agreed. I actually don't mind them playing in the rock arena. Junkyard and Heavy is the Head are cool tunes. The EDM stuff sounds really forced. The less said about Mango Tree, the better. And I'm sort of over their "island tunes" at this point.

Agree as to everything except for the island tunes. Could listen to those on my boat with drink in my hand every day during the summer and would never complain. "Castaway" is a banger.

Junkyard is badass. Mango Tree is horrid, probably my least fav song on that album. I do like the boat/island tunes. I think Zac said he plans for their to be one on every album.

Junkyard is one of my favorite things he did. Tells an amazing story and I love the Floyd nod in the middle.

As for this new single, what a gorgeous tune. I hope "Welcome Home" being the name of the new album means they're going back to being strictly country.

Agreed. I have never really loved the old version. What they did with it for J&H is awesome, it's my favorite on the album.

Seems they're tweets about the album harp on them returning to their roots and the cover definitely is minimalist like The Foundation and You Get What You Give

Zac Brown Band will now be the answer to the question of what was (both) of my daughters first concert. Short show, and it was for the Houston Rodeo (so it wasn't exactly the best sound or the closest seats) but they both loved live music. My 23 month old was jamming during the whole show.

    That's awesome!

I'm taking my kids (7 and 8) to the Coors Field show this summer. I am hoping for similar results!

Man, I don't know, I think I'm about done with these guys. I'm glad they went back to their more traditional style, but it just doesn't sound authentic like I felt like their early work did. The musicianship is very good, but Zac Brown at his best made me really feel something in songs like Highway 20 Ride, I Play the Road, Quiet Your Mind, Colder Weather, and I don't get that element from him any more. "Trying to Drive" on the new album is a soulless shell of what it was on his live album so many years ago.

It's fine, just super forgettable to me on first listen. I'll give it more time.

Well said. Lyrics and theme appear genuine but I'm not feeling it. Seems way too forced in a way (Roots, The Real Thing, Family Table). I'll pull a few tunes from this album like the last one. 2 places at 1 time, Start Over, and My Old Man. That's about it.
