Should Boyd attend R&F HOF ceremony if DMB gets in?

i know that dave had mentioned back in 2019 when they got nominated for the 1st time that he hopes everyone can be mature / big enough to put the past behind and come together for the induction. but do you think thats still the case? do you think boyd is in a place where he can attend this induction, and not be out of his mind and actually perform a few songs live like ants, & billies?

also does this mean rashawn, tim, jeff and buddy get into the HOF? or just dave, carter, stefan, roi (posthumously) and boyd?

If Boyd is in his right mind, I think the band would have him there in some form. I highly doubt Dave would have him play though. Unless he truly cleaned up and can tell the difference between being in and out of tune. .

Also, nothing really came legally of the allegations against him, understanding that is was settled out of court, which to me means there's definitely some grey area and his accuser wanted money more than real justice if any was warranted.

All those strange videos of Boyd over the last couple years just warrant genuine concern for his well being. It may not be good for him to get back in the public eye at all.

Based on Dave's prior comments, I think Boyd will be there. Also, Cap$haw is definitely going to be play the "DMB Reunites with Founding Member Boyd Tinsley for First Tour Together since 2016" card sometime in the future.

There are many reasons to settle rather than go to trial, including ability to fund litigation, desire to avoid publicity, immediacy of resolution, pressure from courts (frequently judges will encourage settlements over trials), and risk reduction. In comparison, Steven Page left the Barenaked Ladies in 2009 but he was there and sang with the whole band for the Juno Awards (when the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame) in 2018.
Page seems to be much more healthier than Boyd (and really was half of the brain of BNL) but that kind of event is the opportunity to bury the hatchet, for History's sake.

I would be surprised if he was there, however if he is healthy enough to put on stage he definitely should be included, without Leroi and Boyd dave would have been just another 90's artist. The violin and saxophone were essential to their sound, so he deserves recognition for that.

Agreed. What he was accused of would be horrific. And ya, I don't fully agree with with what I said as a hard fact either. But we'll never really know if it's true/false, all true or partially. All I meant to say was that, people have been awarded much more in the entertainment realm and had much less exemplarily lives than Boyds. It shouldn't disqualify him with what we know about it as solely an accusation at this point. Though of course we can speculate about it all we want.

I don't believe in cancellation for things people said. For words. For actions, that's a case by case scenario.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how they would even logistically accomplish this since they'd need rehearsals before the event, which I could see being a challenge for obvious reasons - unless they just bang out a Grey Street, So Much to Say, You & Me, or whatever avoids a lengthy violin solo.


I can imagine them doing the mental calculus on whether or not they should touch Ants with a ten foot pole, while knowing that's more or less what everyone would expect.

Boyd was a massive reason for them getting over and popular. All 5 of the original members. He should be there to accept. To play? I’m sure that convo has already started with finding out if it’s even possible

Oh no, him touching an instrument would be the atrocity. Between the arthritis, the heavy drug use, and generally not being very good in the first place - that will just give fuel to people saying they shouldn’t get in.
