The nightmare on elm street one has a few clips from older movies... but thats because an official trailer didn't come out.

    Ridiculous.

I don't know how anyone could be excited about Michael Bay performing partial birth abortions on two horror classics.

the only positive i can see out of it is that these "remakes" will be a lot better then a crappy sequel. i'd still rather see a movie such as these get the proper treatment. alas, all the studios care about is teenagers spending money, not making the best movie they possibly can.

    Well.

First off, I am HUGE 80's horror buff.. I have over 140+ old b-rated 80's horror films..

Anyways.. I LOVE Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I HATE remakes.. BUT I the TCM: The beginning and the remake were really good...

Same person is making the new Jason Film, so it should be good.

It cannot be a remake of the first one can it? Cause Jason is not the killer in part 1, his mother is.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I'm sure Bay will rape the story enough to bring Jason in early.

its supposed to be a remake, from what i've read they've just taken some liberties and made jason the killer. and what are your thoughts on texas chainsaw massacre part 2, starring dennis hopper? that is the funniest movie i've ever seen (and i've seen it multiple times).. i dont get what tobe hooper was trying to do. everything seems like it was supposed to be a joke.

I'm a huge horror movie fan. I can't even believe people can make money re-making master pieces. I'm definitely not saying Friday the 13th had the best story lines or acting.. Just that a lot of horror movie fans love them and most people think of Jason when they think scary movie.

A few shots from that trailer I can already tell were direct scenes from the movie redone in a new way. The dirty work is hard but it definitely isn't hard to make these movies better... Add everything from the 1st and 2nd one to the remake.. make it bloodier.. up to date... there you go.

And Jason Voorhees runs now!!!!! Anyone like or dislike that?

They should've had Rob Zombie do it. At least he's familiar with the genre. Michael Bay will want to blow everything up.

That's what I was thinking. I'm still against remakes, but if Zombie did these, I would actually consider the possibility that they might be decent.

    I didn't mind his remake/retake on Halloween.

Neither did I, because he's a true student of the genre. He's a fan of horror and he knows how it's supposed to go. I don't think Michael Bay knows how to make a film with less than $100million worth of fireworks.

I didn't like the idea of it, but I like it in the trailer. You see Jason and instead of him standing still he sneaks up very very fast right towards you.

Leatherface is more of a psycho with a chainsaw(ok, that is what he is). But he runs with like the Chainsaw carrying his momentum.

Meanwhile, if any series was asking to be re-made it was Freddy. With special effects, there could be some totally cool Nightmare deaths.

None of these films were classics in the first place so as long as we get cool deaths(and some boobs) I will dig them.

jason better not run, thats just not his style.

how can you just completely change the story of the movie you're re-doing and call it a 're make'. jason's MOM is the killer in the first one (which isnt that good anyway) so dont make jason the killer and then try to call it a remake. just make another jason movie that doesnt blow dick..i.e. let rob zombie do it

But I would argue they aren't trying to call it a remake. They are reinventing the franchise. In everyone's heart, Jason is the killer. Give them props it takes place at Camp Crystal Lake and not in someone's suburbs or Manhattan or outer space(which were all always the wrong ways to extend the life of the franchise).

Then I'm not sure how you can say Friday and Nightmare aren't classics, or that making Jason quick doesn't ruin it, or that the Hostels are horror done right.

Re: Friday the 13th & Nightmare on Elm Street Countdown

the old texas chainsaw massacre is still 100 times better than the remake.. the best part of the remake though is that i saw it at a drive in movie theater and smoked bowls outside! it was pretty old school...

these remakes give younger ppl, or new ppl to horror movies a different look at characters... i guess this shit happens all the time... but ehh.. its almost like cover bands becoming famous.

The only improvement via quickness was zombies, which improved the entire genre.

Anything Eli Roth does is just an exercise to throw as much gore at the screen as he can. Nothing special about that.
