I've done the math before. If i catch the right deals, I can wear a fresh pair of the socks I love for around $300 a year. That's really not a lot of money, and very affordable for that kind of luxury.

Yeahhhh! I've had many extra months of Prime added over this. But the last time it happened just last week, they gave me a $20 refund (plus tax), which is 2-3x better than an extra month.

It is unbelievable how shitty weather forecasters can be at their job, yet still keep their job. Yesterday they originally called for over a foot of snow by me. We ended up getting about 3 inches.

Had it stayed cold enough you would've gotten feet of snow. It was the slimmest of margins that it turned to rain down there.

I'd be thrilled if they had gotten it that wrong here.

I think weather forecasters are right like some absurd amount of the time.

The only reason they do shit like 10day forecast is because they know the public wants some sense of what the future holds, even if it will likely end up changing.

if you understand that predicting weather is difficult (first bolded), then your second bolded statement isn't necessary

they get the forecast right most of the time, but no one sings their praises when that happens. when they get it wrong, people go after them with torches and pitchforks

Not the first time and won't be the last time they have gotten it wrong. But they did not warn about the potential of it not being snow. NYC closed their schools because of the "forecast" and they very rarely close. The forecast has huge implications.

Also, I don't mind snow. In fact, I would have preferred getting two feet after they built this thing up for a week, instead of the 3 inches I received.

Tons of people have difficult jobs, doesn't mean they make mistakes or are consistently incorrect. And when I say they got it wrong, I am referring to the big media like fox or cbs. There were, however, some meteorologist who got this right, but they don't work for the big media. Bernie Rayno at accuweather warned of the potential of mixing and far lower accumulations days before the storm came, but none of the big media did. Maybe my anger should be aimed at the media instead of the weathermen?

about a year ago, i bought some work shirts at Van Heusen. they fit great and i like the style. A few months ago i went back to buy a few more. Bought the same size and same fit (regular) and the new ones fit terribly. I'm guessing they are slim fit and got mislabeled as regular.

maybe you're thinking i've gained weight. but the shirts i first bought still fit wonderfully

ya, its not an insane amount of money, even if its like $400-600, but its still A LOT of money to spend on socks. there are a lot of other things pretty much every one of us could spend that money on instead of socks.

very few other people have jobs that involve unpredictable, moving targets. i took a meteorology class in college that was taught by one of the local tv meteorologist. its insane the things they need to factor in to make their predictions. literally one of 20 variables could change and be the difference between 2 inches and a foot of snow.

It is, yeah. But it was either sit at home with my thumb up my ass or go in and make money, so I went with the make money option. One of the days I worked for about 3.5 hours, and my boss is paying me for 10, so I lucked out there. I'll end up with about 10 hours of OT this week. I'd still MUCH rather be on vacation.

edit: It also wasn't PTO, it was just two of my regular shifts that I'd given to a coworker. so it wasn't as much scheduled days off as it was days I had to bribe somebody else to work on their spring break.

Had to go watch a high school musical of Shrek last night because my sister is in fucking stage crew. No lie, this shit lasted for THREE HOURS. I wanted to kill myself, that was basically my version of hell.

Ive been to a decent handful of musicals for my sisters between them in middle and high school, along with going to a couple when I was in HS, and im normally fine to sit thru them, but holy shit, this was terrible.

It wasnt even the kids either, like the musical itself was so poorly written, the lyrics to all the songs were absolute garbage, there was so much random unnecessary stuff that happened, they couldve easily cut 30 minutes off this thing. This shit was a broadway musical, right? Both my fiancee and I said the lyrics to the songs sounded like a high schooler wrote them when we left. I am just baffled at how bad this shit was, like I was seriously angry when I left because it straight up ruined my entire night, got there at 7ish for a 730 start, didnt get home til 1045.
