I think it's a sign of Don kind of being out of touch that he isn't destroying Betty/Henry. I know he told her he wouldn't fight her, but he could easily could get money from them or force them out of the house without too much harm done to Sally or Bobby or Gene.

Was anyone bugged by the new office set up? Doors and walls everywhere!

I also at Harry wearing the baby blue trousers with the tweed jacket. I remember seeing my grandfather in a pair of those pants.

The new office set up definitely threw me off. I was kind of surprised, and then not that Don's not dominate in the bedroom like he used to be in previous seasons.

Also, I'm over Betty and Henry.

    That was a great line.

Its funny how the writers can make us hate a character like Betty. I hate her too, but her actions against Don are justified. He was a terrible husband to her. She still is a bitch to the kids though.

I was sort of thinking that, too. If anyone on the show has justified reasons to be a bitch, it's her. She's been lied to for the last 10 years or however long they've been married, and she was trapped in that marriage. She couldn't just up and leave him at that time. That scene towards the end of last season where she speaks to her lawyer at her Dad's house was heartbreaking. She told the lawyer everything Don did to her, and he basically said, "Well, he provides for you, so suck it up." I just can't imagine being in a situation like that without a good way out.

But like you said, that doesn't excuse her being so mean to the kids, which is the reason I don't like her character. Those scenes with her and Sally are difficult to watch. I think the rest of her behavior towards Don could be excused, but the fact that she is such a bitch to those kids just makes her totally unsympathetic.

So Betty was lied to, sure. Which didn't affect their relationship really at all.

She was cheated on, yes. She then cheated on Don with some random guy while pregnant, and started an affair with Henry.

She was stuck in the relationship because Don provided for her. So she found some other guy to keep her afloat and then dumped Don. He is fine cause he actually, you know, has a job, so essentially she just got the house for herself (not her house, she didn't pay a cent for it), and pissed off her kids.

That's how the writers made us hate Betty.

Well Don's lying and cheating started long before her affair with Henry. The lying started the second they met, really.

Everyone he knew, besides Mrs. Draper and his brother, thought his name was Don Draper. It really didn't affect his life with Betty other than his not talking about his past, but she knew about that - I mean, he had no one at the wedding on his side.

I get what Don was doing with the swimsuit guys and I totally agree with him. You walk out and you show them you don't need their business. Don't beg them for it and show them you're desperate.

WTF was up with his forehead in the scene where he meets with Joanie? It looked like some kind of rash won a military coup.

I was wondering this too. My guess its from a TV show or movie that was popular at the time. The equivalent of someone saying "I love lamp" or something.

Another great line was when Harry told Joan that it was his news to tell about selling Jai alai and she says "I wont even tell people after its aired"

I'd been trying to figure that out since Sunday.

Great opener, and looking forward to next Sunday. I was glad to see at the end of the episode Don nutted up and sent that bikini company packing. Sure SCDP is a smaller firm, but I would assume Don is looking to snag bigger clientele to expand the appeal of their current small organization.

Just so I've got it clear then, the basic lineup:

    Partners: Sterling, Cooper, Draper, Pryce
    Don is Creative
    Pete is Accounts
Peggy is Art (Joey as underling)
    Harry is Media/TV

    Yep.

Though here's to hoping Sal comes back as art, Peggy does full-time creative and Smitty comes back somehow (long shot).
