That is a good one. Tiki must feel like an idiot right now.

Patriots. They're the only team that has a better on the road record than the Giants. The Giants don't have weather on their side, and Eli had the game of his life in week 17.

If Tom Brady can play as shitty as he did tonight and still win, the Giants are screwed.
    thanks captain obvious.

I don't expect anyone to give the Giants a chance. It's understandable, facing an 18-0 team. I'm gonna say the Giants win, perhaps its my heart over my mind, but whatever.

It's 14 point game now, it'll probably be a 28 point game by kickoff. I don't really care.

I'm a very proud Giant fan tonight! Coughlin, Eli, Plaxico, The Offensive Line, The Defense, Tynes......everyone that has faced scrutiny and i'll say i've said everyone is worthless in the past two seasons and even part of this season. But, everyone has earned my respect and everyone showed their True Blue colors during the playoffs.

I said before Tynes' winning kick, "Why Not?" So, i'll say it now for the Super Bowl, "Why Not"

LET'S GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!! and R.W. McQuarters better not be seen at all!

Yeah, and by "bandwagon" I assume that is a joke since I am from Michigan, and have been a Tom Brady fan since he played at UofM. Although, I guess my son would be jumping on the bandwagon, since he just became a fan of Brady on January 10, 2007.

i can't believe the giants are going to be in it, i definitely think green bay should be there, but they played like absolute shit tonight. that said, i don't think i'm going to be able to watch the superbowl because i hate both teams pretty equally. i only hate 3 teams real bad in the nfl, and go figure 2 of them are in the superbowl.

I have been a fan of Moss since he was a Viking, does that make me a Pats fan? hell no, why does one player suddenly make you a huge fan of one team?

as much as i hate the giants, i really think they have a decent chance to win it. between the eagles, ravens, and giants season games, as well as the game today, they definitely showed that they are potentially beatable. so i don't think anyone should think that the superbowl will be a blowout.

If I follow a player's career and like him, I always root for the team said player is a part of. That's called logic. The only rule is if said player is a part of a team that I hate. Then I, by rule, can't root for him until he is no longer part of that team.

He does make a good point about two overpaid teams, they are in huge money markets, which sucks for smaller teams and markets.

Wait, I thought that's what the salary cap was for. Do the Giants and Pats have a bigger cap than smaller teams?

I forgot there was a salary cap in the NFL. Although these bigger markets are able to grab bigger name players despite the cap.

A lot of it is because the teams in the smaller markets have to devote more money to paying the rest of the expenses for their franchise and don't have as much to pay for players.

Although there is a cap, it is definitely true that some teams have more money to spend than others.

thanks, that is basically the pount the I was trying to get across. It obviously clear that bigger market teams have an advantage over smaller market teams.

The salary cap only includes player salary expenses...

well, here is the thing. the teams that are good have drafted their teams and made key trades.

now the thing is keeping your good teams, thats why they say "there cant be 1 dominate team" because the players will want more and leave. however the big thing is the Coach too and how you play or cheat.

thats why last year the patriots went 12-4 and lost to the colts. They couldnt hold onto some of their big playmakers. They replaced them via trade and draft and now they are 18*-0.

    Pittsburgh Steelers - $4 million
St. Louis Rams - $22.3 million
San Diego Chargers - $12.3 million
    San Francisco 49ers - $37.1 million
    Seattle Seahawks - $14.7 million
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - $22.3 million
    Tennessee Titans - $18.5 million
    Washington Redskins - $6.5 million

    Source: ESPN.com

As of Dec 27 2007, these are the same numbers, but for the projected 2008 Season.

    Arizona Cardinals - $30.27 M
    Atlanta Falcons - $5.79 M
    Baltimore Ravens - $5 M
    Buffalo Bills - $32.05 M
    Carolina Panthers - $6.05 M
    Chicago Bears - $19.8 M
    Cincinnati Bengals - $31.45 M

    San Diego Chargers - $43.03 M
    San Francisco 49ers - $30.91 M
    Seattle Seahawks - $9.55 M
    St. Louis Rams - $9.61 M
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers - $25.9 M
    Tennessee Titans - $40.85 M
    Washington Redskins - $-20.72 M

Sources: NFLPA, ESPN, & Sports Illustrated

As you can see, all teams are under the same cap, and all the size of the team's market has little effect on the team's cap status. So, unless you have more information to add to this that gives credit to your big market conspiracy theory, your claims are nothing more than baseless accusations.

As you can see, all teams are under the same cap, and all the size of the team's market has little effect on the team's cap status. So, unless you have more information to add to this that gives credit to your big market conspiracy theory, your claims are nothing more than baseless accusations.
    Good post.

i love the oakland raiders, spend the most. suck the most.

all this shows you is that coaching and talent win you championships. not money in the NFL.

    in Baseball its money...

Yeah, pretty much. While one can buy a World Series Title in the MLB, things are very different in the NFL, thanks in part to the salary cap system.

a good GM and a good Coach is all you really need, players will come and go. great players will come and go. but, you have a good GM and a good Coach you can keep winning. NE, Indy, Sea and Denver have all been really good recent examples. although there are still ups and downs.

The Pats were almost $9 million above the cap this year. The Giants, at about $34 million below the cap, had the lowest payroll in the league.

What's really interesting is that 5 out of the 12 playoff teams this year were in the bottom 10 in salary, while only 3 out of the 12 were in the top 10.
