That really fucks up the whole symbolism of Snape getting shafted his life.

yeah i agree...snap deserves a good death obviously, but his character arc should deny him that, as it does in the book.

any idea when this will be coming to video?

That's what I really don't like about the movies. They change stuff like that for no reason. J.K. has a point for every decision she made when writing the books. I don't believe she would just say, "Yeah, cool. Just totally defeat my purpose once again." That's a reason the movies lack so much depth.

If they fuck up the Snape death scene, I'm going to be so pissed. That chapter is the whole fucking point behind the entire GD Harry Potter chronicle. It reveals more than who Snape was, but why he did what he did, why he treated Harry the way he did, and how he is the best character in the entire thing. I'll be so mad if they ruin it. That's probably one of the scenes I'm most looking forward to in the final movie.

I also really really wanted to see Dudley is nice to Harry. I'm sad that didn't make it into the movie.

Ditto! I read that the test screening for part I (without all the effects and music) had that scene or a variation of that scene so maybe it'll be in the deleted scenes for the dvd?

    This would be great.
I do wish they had done hp like they did lotr: film it all, but take out whole story lines for the theatrical versions, and release the while story on dvd. I know they didn't do ALL the story in lotr, but it would have made it better for hp, imo.

Any word on a release date for DVD yet? It should be out late March, but I haven't seen anything yet.

I'd think they'd push it to closer to the release date of Part 2. It would maximize exposure and profits of both movies.

Especially since in OOTP, the movie made Dudley to be a really mean kid when he taunted Harry about his mother being dead (which was not in the book), or when they left out Aunt Petunia validating the dementors and confirming to Uncle Vernon that they do exist. I'm not saying that the Dursleys were good people, but it would have been nice to see just a tiny sliver of humanity in them at least once in the movies.

Yeah, from what I understand, there's a few scenes that they did but then left out....and they'll be bonus footage on the DVDs.

I did, though, like what they did with Hedwig. That was a bit better/not as horribly sad as it was in the book.

I'm gonna go with early June, since I'm sure there will be "behind the scene sneak peeks" at part 2 that will really rev people up to see the second one. If they release it in March, that's too much time.

Exactly, it would have been nice to see Harry leave on (relatively) good terms with the family who despised him throughout his childhood.

Nah, it should be out by the end of April at the latest. I don't think they need to maximize exposure...not with this series. The people who want to get it will get it whenever it is released. They could easily just lower the prices or have a sale before the 2nd part is released. I think more people would be mad if they had to wait another 2-3 months extra.

    Or re-release part 1.

I really hope they show Part 1 in theaters right before the midnight premiere July 15th. Would make sense. I hate making the comparison, because there isn't one, but the Twilight movies got that treatment when whatever the newest one is called came out. I'd rather spend all that time at the theater watching an epic 5 hour event than doing Part 1 at home and Part 2 on the big screen.

If they did that for Twilight they better do it for HP.
