Id never go back to dealing with ticketmaster. My seats are always better than anything I can pull through TM. I check during the public onsale date everytime. The $35 is worth to not have to deal with that stupid site.

I just got my Citi Bank credit card to take advantage of presale on the 5th, now I wish they would announce shows at RR since that will probably be the only shows I would go to, maybe the Gorge not sure yet. I hope the scalpers don't get in before me

Disagree. While the seating assignments for very senior members may have gone downhill the last few tours, it does still "mean something". I'd much rather have my row 20-30 seats then some newbie's seats in the rear pavilion sections. Sure, I may not be pulling 4th row like the early years of the WH but will still pull better seats than most (aside from random night at 2 night stops).

We must be going to completely different shows, assuming you joined in 2002 as I did. I never got 4th row (best was 11th) and I've been bumped back to the 40's since the GA pit. Can't wait to land on the lawn this year.

Can we get a "bitter" smilie?

just my take premium this year; this is a business. no way in hell they turn down premium reserved tickets, i'd be shocked. they might sprinkle a few $75 pits if they get more premium pits than capacity, and you better believe they'll pack the lower bowl of amp's with premium tickets. the "limited" note is pure marketing. i feel bad for the '98 members; they will be in the back of the lower pavilion.

Hopefully most people aren't stupid enough to pay $250 a ticket, or if they do they go after GA Pit.

Agreed, which is why I put in for only a few shows, Regular Reserve Checked, and will be really concentrating on TM/LN (has been my plan for 5+ years)

i think you are underestimating this. the band started in the early 90's and the majority of the fan base is in the late 20's, early 30's, meaning stable people with jobs = money. they are just coming off of their hiatus, it's the perfect time to try the premium tickets. people travel all over the country, spend thousands on airfare, hotel, food, etc, it's very enticing and i think you'll be surprised how many people pay this amount. this band is all about the "hook", which includes forking over the money for tickets.

Your choice. I'm sure you'll have a blast fighting for position in a giant pit with a ton of other people who paid about a third of what you did.

We'll see. They've offered this option at many venues through Live Nation for a few years now and often they sit unsold until day of show, when they release them to the box office for actual face value.

I can use WPB as my example as I've been going for years; i know the ticket market pretty well here. The VIPs that you speak of from Live Nation for DMB need to be bundled with another show or shows at the venue - you're right, they are $260 a pop, but even those sell out under that prereq. I agree with you with regard to the less traveled venue's, like a Dallas or a Charlotte, but any of the top 5 or 8 venues, they'll be slammed with premium's making the '98 members pissed off beyond belief when they get their seat assignment.

I'm not talking about VIP tickets through LN -- I'm talking about single show "premium tickets" which are sold for venues across the country for a wide variety of bands.

For example, at Camden, click here:

    http://www.livenation.com/event/0200...ink=edp_onsale

And then click the "Official Platinum Tickets" tab. Again, they've done this for some shows for years, and most of the time they sit around unsold until they're released for face at the box office day of.

I've never seen those for DMB at any "high demand" venue. Which venue's and when did they do this?

I know they were up for Camden in 2009 and 2010, as well as several other northeast venues.

Had a great time last time I was in the Pit at Spac. Stood towards the back and had a ton of room. Dead center, not one complaint.

I tend to agree with you, especially since the premium tix are only offered in pairs. So, it's simple math. Do they want to make 500 plus to give someone two pit or lower pav seats or 174.50...I know it said limited supplies but I doubt brokers will want to go for 250, because their markup on that in the secondary market could be minimal. So less demand, or willingness to fork out 250 a pop. That said, last year wpb pit seats were selling on the secondary market (especially for the sat show) for far greater than 250-so, perhaps 250 to get those pit seats is not that bad of a deal if being in the pit is that critical.

just in case anyone is wondering, the fleece is Columbia and it comes in navy and black, small through 4x. vip will be worth the cash. these things will prolly sell for 75 bucks by themselves.

My seats went back about 8 rows from the normal section / row I usually get @ starlake. I'm guessing VIP probably accounted for a decent bit of that (front middle section).
