Re: Legion (FX)

Shadow king would make more sense, but mojo would probably make things a bit more interesting.

Live action Mojo would be absolutely amazing.

Shadow King could be done, but Mojo was always much more interesting.

    It's like a dream.

If you asked me back in the early 90's when I was reading these books if I ever imagined I'd be having a discussion about whether or not it was Mojo or Shadow King I saw in a live action Legion show on TV, I would say you're crazy.

It's great to be a geek right now.

I'm holding out for Mojo. I remember in the 90s X-Men cartoon show Mojo scared the crap out of me. I frightened very easily as a child (still do). But it'd be cool to see an on-screen adaptation of the character.

Mojo would be fine and all as an ancillary villain, but the Shadow King would make a lot more sense as the overarching villain of the series.

    Re: Legion (FX)

This show is so, so good.

    Tonight's observations

    - Loved the episode opening with that "Road to Nowhere" cover, that was fantastic.
    - The show is very well shot. I love the cinematography. I also really enjoy the way they tweaked the audio levels during one of his flashbacks. It was really well done.
    - "Dr Vacon's advanced time travel class has been cancelled" - I caught this in the background (subtitles) when he was talking to the time guy. I don't see any significant to the name, I don't recall anyone in Marvel with that name. But perhaps it is foreshadowing. Legion had many personalities that could manipulate and travel through time. So perhaps eventually he will get that ability soon, or he already has it but can't access it yet.
    - I'm becoming more convinced the yellow being that David is seeing is Mojo. It keeps looking more and more like him. Though they never met in the comics, it could still be done. And perhaps his current reality is the Mojoverse and that's why it's so abnormal.

I remember reading one theory after the pilot that given David, at least in the comics, does have potentially "thousands" of personalities, that all the hospital stuff was just in his mind and all of the patients are just alters.

but especially after now seeing the 2nd ep, it would seem the hospital is a legit physical place in the universe of the show.

Ratings are solid. It'll get a second season if it holds steady

I don't recall a Melanie Bird existing in the Legion books. But I read an interview Jean Smart did a while back and she said the character doesn't have any superpowers. She's probably a new character.

In regards to Junior’s post, I’m not sure where in the comic time line this story falls, that’s the hard part. I’ll spoiler this in case people don’t want to know the comic story of his mom:

Click the "Show Spoiler" Button to reveal hidden text.

The problem with that is with the Legion character there are many universes and “realities” and who knows what the show is going with or if this is a new continuity/universe. So it could be her if it isn't in the current comic continuity.

Yeah, we're definitely dealing with the Shadow King here.

One theory I've heard is that "Lenny" is the Shadow King and that SK was simply using her likeness.

Some reviews were starting to get semi-critical of the pacing through Episode Four. Then Episode Five (last night) happened.

    Re: Legion (FX)

I caught up on the last 2 episodes of this show today... holy shit. This thing's really kicked into high gear. and it's funny cause I don't know now where I heard it, it was a very sort of hit and run thing, but around a week or so I recall hearing that for Aubrey Plaza this was supposedly like the role of her career she'd gotten. And while I liked Lenny in the first couple episodes, I thought this sounded a little odd. well it makes a lot more sense now

I just really hope (as one of the theories I've read) that it's not ALL in David's head. I mean there are stories where you can pull a "it's all been a dream" sort of twist or something similar and it CAN work without it feeling like a ripoff. It's not often, but I've seen it handled well. But what we got so far, I'm not seeing a way they could say that without all of this winding up too meaningless for it to be worth it. But I think a lot of the action has indeed been happening. and we're already halfway done, right? speaking of which, has there been any word on season 2 being a go yet?

and Syd's been killing me with the outfits they got her in, like the whole late 60s look really works WELL for this actress, the all black and the skirts. She is gorgeous. actually Carrie(Kerry?), the female half of the Bill Irwin character, she's awesome looking too. I loved that scene where she's taking out all the bad guys outside the lighthouse meanwhile cutting back to him and his body's being carried along the same physical motions with the broom in his hands

Made it through 3 1/2 episodes and had to bail. Too fucking bizarre for me. Kept thinking it was going to take a turn towards something remotely normal, but it seems to be going more and more down the rabbit hole. I can take an episode or three of being inside the characters head but not an entire season. I just finished Taboo and it had it's moments of oddness, but this is a whole other level. I can't do 8 hrs of "A Clockwork Orange" type of weird.
