Apple is doing free battery replacements on the 5 if your serial number matches. Theyve admitted there were faulty batteries finally.

Thanks. I'm not sure the home button on my iphone 4 will make it until then. I have to press it very hard and usually multiple times to make it work.

My screen has been cracked to all hell since June, and I've had my upgrade on my account for months. It's been painful, but getting the 6 will be worth it!!

Not sure if the 6 will fall into your upgrade plan without you dropping some $$$.
Reports indicate it will be the most expensive iPhone to date. Upwards of $800 for the cheapest model.

I got a new phone yesterday, and did a cloud restore. All my contacts, bookmarks, pics, etc. came over from my old phone, but not my apps. They were there, but were blacked out, and when I downloaded them, they just disappeared. Any ideas? I've searched online for a fix but have only found this problem with old iOS updates.

The Orlando Apple store ran out three days into replacement program. I've been waiting to hear back for over a week. Pathetic.

Reading reports that the new iPhone wont actually have a sapphire display

Would be a huge bummer if true, was really looking forward to that.

Agreed. That was a huge selling point for me. Will it make me change my mind to not get it? I dunno, I'll wait and see but it was something that was pulling me in. We'll see what happens though. Too many rumors.

Keep in mind that while it's stronger and more scratch resistant than gorilla glass, it shatters more easily when dropped. The camera lens cover used to be sapphire also, but since the camera lens is protruding on the iPhone 6 as opposed to being flat, they're switching back to glass because of failed drop tests.

Oh man, thanks so much! I knew my phone was messed up, dies all the time at half battery life, goes through battery life way to quick, etc. sure enough my number matches. I go in tomorrow and they said they'll order the new battery.

Hopefully no longer than a week...

As for the iWatch, or any smartwatch, I probably won't. One, I just bought my first real watch in a while and it wasn't super cheap. Second, the battery life. Moto 360 supposedly doesn't get you through a day. 12 hours sounds like the most. While your average workday, that's fine, but what if I went to a baseball, basketball or hockey game or something after work? Yes I could charge at work but that's not quite as convenient to do as your phone. If it could get 16-18 hours on one charge, then it would be useful. The rumors say the same thing about the iWatch not having great battery life.

No way in hell Apple releases anything with shitty battery life. This company is driven by products that can last a full day.

Shitty can be subjective though, based on one's personal use and what they expect a product to do. Some people will think 12 hours is plenty for something like that, but me personally I'd want it longer for the reasons stated above. I'll wait to see what they announce...well what actually happens in the real world with it. You gotta remember these things will be synced to your phone from blutooth, tethered to your phone and/or have their own sim and getting info pushed to them, while being the size of a watch. Hard to get a huge battery in there with it running so many things. Yes, software can make things better but we'll see. Again, I'll wait to see what they say and what it does, but I won't be expecting more than 12-14 hours. Which is fine for the most part but less than what I would want out of a smartwatch, if I were to buy one. I won't (at least not now) so I guess it doesn't matter what I think.

I think for a majority of Apple's userbase, shitty would be defined as the product not being able to survive a work day performing it's main function.

12-14 hours would ok then wouldn't it? Personally, if I'm spending the kind of money we're expecting it to cost, I'd want to have those few hours past that, to be able to go out after work and not have to worry about charging it during the day. Maybe they'll surprise me. Looks-wise, they'll have a tough time beating the Moto 360. That's exactly what I'd want a smartwatch to look like.

You also have to contend with the new charging issue we've run into with these sensor-laden wearables: To charge them, you have to stop recording data.

It's not like a phone where you can just stick a cord in it and keep using it as you were for the most part. You're completely unable to use an iWatch while it's charging (assuming this) so it creates a whole separate issue. If you have to charge a bit over lunch to make sure you last the day, that's really going to suck.

You're completely unable to use an iWatch while it's charging (assuming this) so it creates a whole separate issue. If you have to charge a bit over lunch to make sure you last the day, that's really going to suck.
Agree. In the grand scheme of things "first-world problems" but it's something I wouldn't want to deal with if I'm spending that kind of money. i'm sure it'll do cool things, just like the other smartwatches, but they just don't seem to be worth it to me...yet.

Yeah I agree. I've been futzing around with these fitness thingamajiggers for a while now. I've got the Basis now, had both versions of the UP, all of the Fitbits, etc. and I'm still a fatty lol It's all just first-world bullshit.

That's exactly why I'm glad Apple is doing it. Not for the fitness benefit, but because I think they'll understand what Android started pushing:
