It might have restored it from the 4s backup. Did it not give you the option of choosing which backup point to restore from?

Yeah it did - i chose my old phone - Im on hold with apple support now

Now when I try restoring it starts downloading a software update with 16 hours remaining

Maybe restore the 4s all the way to factory, then try restoring it from the old backup.

I went through AT&T and had no problems. Did you order later in the day on the pre-order day? Maybe by then they'd already sold-out of their initial supply.

I ordered mid morning. But regardless when I ordered it gave me confirmation that I'd receive it by the 14th and that I'd ordered it on the 7th. Now it's saying I ordered it on the 11th and it's giving no shipping timeframe

Alright you guys with iOS5 or the 4S let me know if you've experienced this: I'll be in the messages app texting someone and they'll send me a reply and instead of just showing up on the screen like it normally does, it will alert me I have a new message on the messages button on the top left like so "Messages (1)", the message wont appear on the persons text convo when I'm on their page. I'll click the Messages (1) button and it'll show me that the new message is from the same person who's screen I was just on...I click their name and suddenly the new message shows up in their convo.

I've had this experience with people on an iPad using iMessage and someone using a Blackberry. Don't know if it's an iOS5 glitch, or 4S exclusive.

So I finally found out why my order got fucked up. It was basically an anti fraud protection. I'd check my upgrade availability at apple.com at one point on the 7th, but ordered it from AT&T after. And I guess it raised some fraud red flag. And the reason why I didn't hear anything was cause they had the wrong email addy on file.

I'm still annoyed, but at least I have a reason now and just have to wait

Got my 64GB 4S today in the mail. It's awesome as expected. I'm just happy to finally get an iPhone and consolidate it with my iTouch. It's nice having everything in one place. Plus this phone is buttery smooth.

When I send a single message it keeps saying "sending message 2 of 2." When it does send it only shows one message. Not sure whats going on

If the message is longer then 160 characters, your phone will automatically send it as 2 messages. It will still just show as one on your phone. Only the person receiving the message will see it as 2 seperate messages.

Ok, I'm starting to believe battery life sucks on this phone. If you just go by the percentages, it plummets fast, but it's not as noticeable if you turn the percentage off and just go by the battery graphic. It still beats my 3G, but battery life isn't a selling feature on this phone.

And there are little bugs in iOS5 on the 4S everywhere. The Messages bugs like me and luccic posted. I have issues with Calenders showing up correctly in the notification bar. Sometimes Siri freezes up, and never responds.

I have the regular 4, battery life has went down slightly with OS5 but I still only need to charge it every 2-3 days. No problems with the update at all and I haven't noticed my phone to be slower with OS5.

it's not a bug, you just don't understand how the network works.

I'm coming off a Thunderbolt, so battery life can't not be an improvement. Mine was down to around 50% after a full day of use and I don't really notice any major bugs so far.
