However, you can't deny that as a whole the fanbase doesn't enjoy these songs/the album.

I acknowledge that 100%. And although my opinions vary, I totally respect that. People like what they like. That's fine with me. Apparently it's just too much to ask to not be knocked for me liking what I like.

I would like one example of me being "butthurt" over anyone having a different opinion than my own. And this has nothing to do with "standards". It has to do with personal taste. Is your musical taste superior to mine because I like certain songs/albums that you don't?
Seriously, Kitty... you throw out these intents of insults without being able to back up a single word that you say. I'm "butthurt" because people don't like Stand Up, am I? Than show me an example of that, please.
Isn't Stand Up the album that most likely got you into dMb? Or were you a long time fan who just happened to come across these boards around the same time American Baby hit the radio waves...?

On what basis can you say that Old Dirt Hill is wonderfully awesome? It's one of their weakest studio efforts. The song builds up to nothing. Each time it cycles through the chorus, you think it's building to some awesome jam. Instead, just as the song gets to that point - it ends. Such a damn failure. And it's not just that it builds up to nothing. The quality of the production is flat and hollow and sounds fake. The "Bring that beat back to me again" boy band sound is completely out of place. The lyrics could be significantly improved.
Nothing about it is wonderfully awesome, unless a premature ejaculation is considered wonderfully awesome. That would be news to me if that were the case.

I like Old Dirt Hill because I think it's a song that perfectly describes ones nostalgia for their childhood. And I can totally relate to that. Sure, it's not the most complex song the Band has ever recorded. But it's a simple, sweet song that I can relate with.
I've had this conversation about Old Dirt Hill before. Not every song has to be as musically complex as The Dreaming Tree or lyrically poetic as #41. Old Dirt Hill is a simple song about simple times. And it makes me feel happy when I hear it. That' why I can say that, on a personal level, Old Dirt Hill is a wonderfully awesome song.
