Re: Boston Red Sox

Looks like Loney, rubby de la rosa, dejesus, sands, and a top prospect. Reviewing medicals now. Haven't heard anything on money exchanged yet.

Edit: too late

Whoa that's a pretty solid prospect haul for the sox. Loney sucks but Sands and De Rosa could be studs...

The might have the best pitcher and best position player in the NL. They aren't crippling shit. Gonzo doesn't suck, and Crawford might do well to get out of Boston. Beckett could just use a change of scenery... I see where LAD are coming from.

Loney is a free agent after this year. No commitment, so I'm fine with it. Not like the red sox are trying to compete this year.

I am fine with it, and I think most fans in this case would be to. Gonzalez is worth it alone, Beckett I believe only has 2 years left? That's not too bad, and I don't think he will do any worse, but who knows. Crawford, was doing well this year like you said, so it's not that bad. I think for Red Sox fans it kind of sucks a little more on the attachment and giving up sense, but in the long run I think it works well, gives your team a lot more flexibility.

Gonzo doesn't suck but he is nowhere near what he is supposed to be. Maybe getting out of town will help that but it's a pretty big gamble. Crawford contract is horrible. They are doing the Sox a favor here. I'm all for it.

Looks like a win-win from an impartial stand point. You guys clearly need to change some shit up, and the Dodger's ownership group has been trying to make a big splash.

Attachment to what?? Gonzo and Crawford?? Beckett is junk at this point. Tops out at 91 and he is a loss everytime he takes the mound. I would have been fine with keeping Gonzo but if he needed to go to get rid of Beckett and Crawford then see ya. I said Crawford was playing well but have you seen that contract???

I have zero attachment to the players that have been talked about on this page. I had a much bigger attachment to Youk, that was heartbreaking to see him go. Right now I think there's two maybe three players that I'm attached to that I would miss from an emotional point of view, and they are Pedroia and Lester. That's not to say I want to see A-Gon leave, it just wouldn't bother me all that much if he wasn't there.

Dude, you have their jerseys. That is some kind of attachment, right? Can you change the stitching on one of those to Loney's new number?

No...it's a Jersey I don't need to be emotionally attached to a player to buy a Jersey. I just need to want a jersey.

Before this season I would have said the Dodgers wouldn't do this...but after the idiotic contract that gave Ethier...who knows.

If LA takes on all that money, then I say go for it. I like Gonzo, but he has been a little disappointing and with the money they save, they can get some better free agents in the near future (and pay to keep Ellsbury). Please that POS Josh Beckett would be gone too.

Maybe they can also convince LA to take John Lackey too!

Yea I really think this is a win-win for both sides. Fans of both teams are going to be happy. Definitely a huge risk for the Dodgers though.

Couldn't they just not do the "trade" with Beckett and grant the waiver claim on Beckett to the Dodgers. Can Beckett veto a waiver claim? So pretty much just trade them Crawford and Gonzo and give them Beckett.
