Yeah, when I was at home over the summer I would be running up to 4 torrents at a time and one time my dad got pissed because he basically couldn't use the internet anymore. It's was amusing to say the least, but all was forgiven when I gave him some Zappa shows.

Unfortunately, downloading from the Groove causes marital dischord in my house, so I have to suffer with no live Floyd. <sulk>

i was never really a fan until I went and saw the Dark Side of the Moon IMAX movie here in Tallahassee. I know IMAX theaters arent common, but it is one of the best visual and musical experiences one can have. I am not sure if anybody here has seen the laser light show in IMAX to Dark Side of the Moon, but from the looks of how much everybody likes their music, you guys would shit yourself. It is just a combo of visual effects, designs and colors that corresponds tp the music. Crazy shit.

Greatest rock band of all time, hands down. I'm a fan of all the eras, but my favorite is probably post-Syd up to DSotM. Meddle is my favorite album (echoes my favorite song), followed by DSotM. Gilmour is also my favorite guitarist.

    Cheers!

Hehe...that's like asking if dmb is tight live. They are SO much better live, in my opinion (which is mind blowing, considering how good their studio work is). A four minute song could turn into a 15 min. song live, complete with jazz breaks and everything else imaginable. Check out http://www.sharingthegroove.org for some live stuff. The older the better for more jammed out stuff.

Just bought it at a bookstore in Denver. It might be tough to find at stores like Borders, but amazon has it for sure. Interesting read about the very very early stages of the band....some of it even pre-band.

    Re: The Pink Floyd Thread

just thought i'd kick this thread up since i'm on a floyd kick again... i downloaded everything i could that i didn't have from Bit Torrent, but there's still more albums i need to check out... if i had the money, i'd probably buy all of them, it's so worth it.

it's fun though cuz i downloaded Piper, Division Bell, the Wall (all of which i hadn't heard yet), WYWH, Momentary Lapse, and Meddle, and now i'm hearing all these songs, most of which i've never heard before, and i'm just consistently blown away.

one thing i was thinking about the other day though: my dad told me once that PF used to do shows promoting the Wall where they would have an actual wall of (fake bricks, i assume) blocking the entire stage, and at one point they would all tumble down (or something) and they'd be revealed. anyone know anything about this?

Listen to Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall or Wish you Were here. Those are the more mainstream albums, but good nonetheless.

i know, that's what i love about Pink Floyd. like, with some bands, you'll listen to a few really good songs from an album, and the rest maybe sometimes cuz they're "ehh", but with PF you don't just sit down and listen to their songs, you listen to their albums. the way they flow together is just outstanding. i consider it a privelage to have the time to be able to sit down and listen to one of their albums, start to finish, non-stop.

Dark side is the best example of this, IMO.

The first time I heard Time, I was hooked... don't know many albums other than DS, The Wall, and Echoes, but they are all soooo great.. I love the cd's where you can just pop them in (esp. goes for DS) and not take it out till it's over. Pink Floyd definitely rocks my world

Anyone ever try watching The Wizard of Oz w/ DS??
