Re: **The Official Vinyl Collectors Thread**

34 LT1's already listed on ebay.

I sat it out all the rushing and grabbing today. The one day of the year that my record store is like a f'n mall at christmas.

Yeah they usually are, but Jack White swears by them and they always seem to do terrific work for him. When I saw the little "u" in the deadwax my heart sank, but Jack White was labelled as the "Ambassador" for RSD 2013 and so I thought maybe with his name so prominently involved this might be a good pressing.

It's not quite as quiet as the best RTI, Optimal, Pallas or QRP pressings, but it's pretty darned quiet and I was very impressed. I've only listened to Seek Up so far, so hopefully the other sides won't disappoint, but I'd say United knocked this one out of the park. Thank fuck for that!

I was lucky to grab the last "The Last Waltz" and tame impala today. I showed up an hour early and was probably 40th on line. I went in with those as probably 5 and 6 on my priority but I'll take it. They both sound great.

now i get to party before hitting up the black angels show tonight. what a day.
Wasn't the Puscifer LP a special release at Coachella today? If not, then I'm gonna kick myself if my store happened to have a copy and I didn't get it. Pretty sure that you could only get it there.

    LONG weekend so far...

Scored my LT1 copy, No. 162. Waited in line since 2:45am. I was so excited! I scored on all four of the releases I was eyeing, and another one that I wasn't expecting to find.

RSD specific releases I picked up:

    DMB - LT1
    Phish - Lawnboy
    Mad Season - Above
Cream - Royal Albert Hall box set

    Non RSD release I found:
    Eddie Vedder - Ukulele Songs

All in all I was very pleased with what I found yesterday! I hadn't slept since waking up for work Friday morning.

This was the first thing I looked for on the sleeves when I pulled them out. I was relieved to see that it was mastered for vinyl. As for the sound, I think it sounds absolutely fantastic! I played the CD on my system the other day, and almost cringed at the sound of just about everything. Dave's guitar, Carter's snare, Stefan's bass lines, they all sound so much more rich, natural, and full of life.

I did pretty well yesterday. No LT1 for me. Between 3 record stores I visit, one did not get a cop. Two received a copy, but claims the product was damaged in shipment and unable to sell. Three put their one copy up on silent auction to raise money for charity. I did pick up:

    Grateful Dead
    Phish
    Mad Season
    Blind Mellon
    Gary Clark jr
The Band (which I ended up selling to a friend)
    No Alternative
    Mumford & Sons
    Trey Anastasio
    Pink Floyd
    And the mystery vinly.

I hadn't compared yet so I had to keep my own opinion in check for the moment, but this is what I was anticipating based on my initial listen to Seek Up - that it blows the CD away. Good to hear someone else has actually compared and found the same thing! Yay for DMB for getting this one right.

    Does anyone use Discogs?

I just started setting it up yesterday to categorize my vinyl.

    Friended you.

I love that site, it's a great way to organize your collection and share it with others as well as look through other people's records.

It also has a great marketplace for finding rare vinyl.

I'm listening to Mad Season right now, actually, and it sounds absolutely phenomenal. I've heard this album hundreds of times, but never like this. RTI delivers yet again (as if it was in doubt whether they would).

My Mumford has a really annoying tick lasting through about half of "Awake My Soul", sucks because it's a great performance. Hopefully a good wet cleaning might clear it up.

if so i had no idea. i just saw it on the list on the rsd website. like the lt1 box it was in the later, more limited pressing section, which can be regional or special stuff. so you could definitely be right.

man, i wish i had bought around the sun when it came out. that and reveal are the two lps i am missing, and i saw both of them often enough but never got around to picking them up. now they're expensive. i have a hard time wanting to put down a lot of money for two of my least favorite r.e.m. records, but the collector in me *needs* to. it's a quandry.

Yeah, I've seen people on there with thousands of records in their library. it takes time to organize it, that's for sure.

Jesus H. Christ, this Cream box set sounds absolutely fucking incredible!! The instruments are beautifully separated and this three-piece kicks some serious ASS! Ginger Baker sounds like he's right in front of me. This release was mastered at half-speed by Stan Ricker and pressed on cream colored vinyl. Holy. Shit.
