Re: DC Cinematic/TV Marthaverse Fandom (DCUc)

I'm not sure they need a "reboot"... for as many issues as the first few movies have had, if they get their act together it's not like they are in a bad place to continue expanding the universe from a plot perspective. A reformed Batman being inspired by Superman and sort of bringing to the public other super-powered people who had previously been operating in the shadows isn't a bad launching-off point.

Although if the series gets good and someday I'm showing my kids the DCEU from the beginning, I'm just skipping Suicide Squad

I'm with you. Suicide Squad was relatively enjoyable...but nothing I have any desire to rewatch. Once was more than enough.

I liked Suicide Squad more on my second viewing, and less on my third.

Realistically, Sirens or Squad 2 would be the most likely candidates. If I recall, Sirens is already in development which means it would have the best chance at a 2018 release. They would have to start shooting basically now in order to hit a May to July 2018 release, so again, another rushed product.
I have 0 interest in Sirens, Squad 2 or Dark Universe. Solely interested in the Justice League related characters.

This is kinda where I am too, at least for the early phase movies. If DC established some sort of track record of just great movies I'd be more willing to go out on a limb for characters I am less familiar with, but as of now, the only draw for me is characters I like.

I'm starting to be of this mindset as well more and more. Just give us really great, compelling, interesting stories with these characters, who gives a shit if it's connected to a greater world or not.

The more I hear of dates being moved, this writer dropping, that director dropping, movies about characters I couldn't care less about (Sirens, Dark Universe, Shazam), the less interested I'm becoming in the DC world building. They just didn't plan this out well. I said this back in 2013 when they announced Batman and Superman. Even though I loved it I didn't think it was a good idea to jump the gun the way they did. It all sounded so rushed. And now look.

    Finally, live actions Titans!

    http://www.cbr.com/young-justice-tit...B-P&view=lista

Young Justice Revival, Live-Action Titans to Launch DC Digital Service

Warner Bros. is going all-in with a new DC Comics-branded digital platform that will launch in 2018 with a live-action “Titans” series, and the much-anticipated revival of the animated “Young Justice,” titled “Young Justice: Outsiders.”

Written by Akiva Goldsman, DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti, “Titans” is billed as an action-adventure based on the enduring DC Comics franchise, and will feature such characters as Dick Grayson (presumably as Nightwing), Starfire and Raven.

That's awesome to hear... and it was apparently the press that had it screened and not just fanboys who were going to like it regardless, which is very positive!

Yeah I said after BvS that I wouldn't see another of these movies in theaters until they won me over with a good one, but these Wonder Woman trailers are getting me excited and have me considering changing my mind.

I mean it's a classic "coming of age" story, it's been done a hundred different times, only this time it's with a badass Amazonian warrior princess.

Really looking forward to WW. Hoping it crushes the box office and the critical reception remains positive. The DCEU could really use a resounding win for once.

For whatever reason, even though I haven't loved the DCEU's last two outings, I have not been worried at all about Wonder Woman being bad. I've just assumed they will do a good job with it. I think it's partially because since Wonder Woman hasn't ever been on the big screen in her own film, the story will be an origin story relying on loads of source material and the film will be dedicated to that plot and will probably spend less time trying to be deep and coming off as pretentious and non-sensical. I thought Man of Steel was great with a one-character focus and not trying to juggle too many balls and serve too many masters.

I think it's also partially because Gal Gadot was great in BvS, even though her screen time was limited. But I've just assumed all along I'm going to enjoy it and really have had no hand-wringing over it.

Justice League is the one that I'm really interested to see if they pull off.

No clue why I just thought of this, but does anyone remember that one guy's theory that Ben Affleck was really playing Deathstroke and that Christian Bale would reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman? How fucking absurd was that

Also, while I'm thinking about the DCEU, I watched the original Suicide Squad trailer on my lunch break: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLLQK9la6Go

It makes me so mad that that trailer had such promise and we were left with the steaming pile of shit that was released in theaters. Fuck.

would've been better than the movie we saw...

    Great reviews for Wonder Woman!

Looks like DC will have its first critical/financial hit of the DCEU.

Definitely a step in the right direction.

Not gonna lie...a lot of the reviews scream "Like it so we don't look sexist." I'll probably still see it, but I'm gonna wait for Half in the Bag first.
