Release dates from now and July 28th, 2017:

Avengers: Age of Ultron - May 1, 2015
Ant-Man - July 17, 2015
Captain America: Civil War - May 6, 2016
Doctor Strange - November 4, 2016
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - May 5, 2017
Thor: Ragnarok - July 28, 2017

Obviously Thor will be getting a new release date. No way Marvel is going to put it up against another MCU movie. I'd wager Cap 3 and Doctor Strange are the only viable options for Spider-Man to appear in.
Right after I posted this Marvel updates the release dates: Thor, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Inhumans all getting pushed back.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - May 1, 2015
Ant-Man - July 17, 2015
Captain America: Civil War - May 6, 2016
Doctor Strange - November 4, 2016
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - May 5, 2017
Spider-Man - July 28, 2017
Thor: Ragnarok - November 3, 2017 (..was July 28, 2017)
Black Panther - July 6, 2018 (..November 3, 2017)
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 - May 4, 2018
Captain Marvel - November 2, 2018 (...was July 6, 2018)
Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 - May 3, 2019
Inhumans - July 12, 2019 (...was November 2, 2018)

yea see honestly that's what really struck me the most. Because it really seems now then that none of the Inhumans would be a part of the final main battle against Thanos that I can only imagine would culminate by the end of Infinity War Part 2.
and especially considering that AoS has obviously already started setting up the Inhumans mythology...

Makes more sense to flip the two films around. Infinity War P.2 needs to be the last film, no contest.

Poor AOS just as they start to steer their own ship they are going to have to adapt again.

It's amazing how many times this has happened now. They really need to slow down with Spiderman.

Very excited about this. However, I thought Andrew Garfield was great as Peter Parker. Too bad he won't get another shot at the character. So will we see Spider-Man's third origin story in 2017? I hope not.

Hopefully they do it like Batman v Superman and just throw him in some films like with Affleck's Batman. They don't even need to recast, Andrew Garfield is doing just fine. But they probably will recast

I believe the rumor was that there will be no origin story. This is fantastic news.

Chad I think the only reason Sony rebooted the 2nd time was so that Sony could keep the rights.

This should be pretty sweet. It's clear Sony had no idea what to do with the franchise. There were some truly awful ideas being thrown around (Aunt May, Secret Agent). I think as long as they stay away from a reboot, this can only yield good things. His inclusion in the MCU movies will be an added bonus, and this will only help his next standalone film. I would expect to see a major box office improvement.

I don't see them rebooting Spider-Man again as in origin story and all. It'll probably just come into him being a super-hero ala Spider-Man 2.1 or something. I'm all for a "reboot" if it means having Spider-Man being in the Avengers and storylines he belongs in. Civil War really wouldn't be what it should be without him.

They have to reboot. No way Garfield and all the non-sense has happened work work in the MCU.

I also hope we get an older Spider-Man in his prime. Screw the high school drama Spider-Man I don't care to see it anymore.

What would make me happy is Spider-Man's role in Cap 3 is big enough to establish him. Then maybe the bonus scene to Guardians 2 have the symbiote make its way to Earth. Then introduce a bad ass non-Topher Grace venom in the first big film.

I did see one write-up that basically said that if it's not Garfield, there won't be as much significance to him unmasking himself in Cap 3. Which is a fair point. The significance of him unmasking himself is kind of tied to what we know of Peter Parker personally, and if Spider Man is essentially re-introduced in Cap 3, there's not going to be a lot of depth to him yet, I wouldn't think. No past history to build off. I mean, we all know Spider Man's backstory, so we will know what a significant gesture it is I guess, but it probably does lose a little if he takes his mask off and it's just some dude we haven't seen play the role before.

yea okay it's a "reboot" in the sense that he'll be in sort of a different universe and a different actor will play him, but that's it. It never even occurred to me for a second that they'd bother with telling the origin story for a third time, Marvel is way too smart for that.

What I'm thinking is, they've must've had for awhile now two fundamentally different versions of the Cap 3 script, because obviously that's been worked on for quite awhile now, since they're so close to principle photography. One with Spiderman in it, one without. Because otherwise it just seems like way too major of a change to have been officially settled THIS close to production.

but again, Feige already clearly stated awhile back that the crux of the "civil war" within their Cap 3 movie won't be about superheroes keeping their identity secret, as it was originally in the comic. Hell look at the way things already are in the MCU, that's not really an element at all, all those characters are pretty much exposed to the public. That the story's struggle will be more about agreeing to toeing the government line, taking orders from higher ups, etc, so the "unmasking of Spidey" I don't think would come into it too much.

Obviously they know who Spider-Man is, but Marvel doesn't want any baggage from those movies. You and I could probably accept the same actor and get that his timeline is now different, but there would be people who were confused.

The Spider-Man universe they were building Oscorp was responsible for most of the villians. They showed the ones that were to come next. I gave an example of how you can tease Venom in a post-Guardians credit. If you stick with Garfield then it's back to project Venom or w/e it was on the screen. Even if you start a new timeline it would confuse people who've seen Garfield in two movies already.

1.) We still would know it's Peter Parker
2.) Regardless of who's playing him Spider-Man has always tried to keep his identity a secret. Sure maybe Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, ect. don't care about there identity. What will Spider-Man, Daredevil, and other new people in the MCU who do lead a double life feel about that?

I don't think we need a personal connection to the new Spider-Man to understand the gravity of him doing that.

I don't know. I feel like the average person going to see spider-man in theaters doesn't care who the next villain is, or doesn't care any longer than they're shown on screen and they happen to recognize them. I feel like if he's in an avengers movie out of nowhere and helps fight villains, most people will shrug and say "cool, spider-man's with them now"

this is why I can't get 100% on board with MCU. I think it's really cool that there are all these connected movies and character, but once people start getting into the weeds of "setting up" storylines and movies, I kinda lose interest. why watch the movie if you know the plot and know which characters they'll introduce? why watch a movie like thor 3 when it's just a setup for three movies down the road?

Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe Fandom (MCUc)

Given where Peter Parker is in in life during the Civil War storyline I don't see how it'd make sense to do full series reboot. He's a grown man, married and living life - it would seem cheese to portray that than do another origin story.

And I can see MCU having known the deal was impending and writing with the intention that the deal would happen. It's very possible they were just saying stuff about him to prevent to much hype in case Sony couldn't make the deal.

Don't know how we would get an older Spider Man since he was nowhere to be seen in the Battle of NY, unless he was away and decided to return home.

A reboot doesn't mean you have to tell an origin story. It just means that none of the previous film history of the character applies to that film. Similar to what they are doing with Batman in the upcoming movie.
