I'm currently staying with a guy I met on craigslist. needed a place for a short medical rotation. needless to say, I'm okay and all my stuff is still here. reading that story is fucked up and made me really appreciate the normal experience I've had via craigslist.

It will be interesting to see how they charge this. They are saying that if the baby could not live outside the womb for a period of time they can't charge 1st degrees murder.

Yet ironically the charge of child abuse is in the table.

At 7 months, there's like a 90% survival rate if born in a hospital, so I really don't see how they wouldn't charge murder.

As far as death penalty, I'd say she likely has some extreme mental illness. I skimmed the article bc it was pretty disturbing, especially since I'm currently preggos, but didn't it say the woman's 19 month old died (several years ago)? I'd assume she's needed, but never got, some serious mental help over the years.

just to play devil's advocate, but a 7 month old baby would not survive these conditions anywhere other than at a hospital. so I can see how they wouldn't charge murder bc it has to be alive a certain amount of time....and some rando hooker just can't do that without medical equipment.

regardless, I hope she dies. give her instant death penalty and don't put her in prison. don't let taxpayers pay for that fucking bullshit.

thats why i think its murder. she purposefully removed the baby from it's life source, causing it to die

as I said, I was just playing devil's advocate. but if the case is that the fetus has to live outside the womb for x amount of time before considered "living," does it matter if it were removed from the womb without intent in an attempted murder?

It could via natural and environment processes or it could via artificial intervention? It's a big difference and leads to two very different outcomes.

I think this case doesn't go through without some lawyer stupidly bringing into question when a fetus is considered a living thing. I honestly haven't researched it enough to know if that line has ever been drawn, but I think this will unnecessarily bring ideas from pro-life/pro-choice debate into the picture.
