Re: R.I.P. Leroi Moore.

Roi was the reason I fell in love with this band. I enjoyed Crash, but wasn't a huge fan. In 1997, when L@RR was released, I put it on my Christmas list. Christmas morning, my family and I to open presents at 5 a.m. because my dad had to work. One of the presents was L@RR.

I had every intention on going back to bed after we were through. I went to bed, put on L@RR and the Seek Up solo at the beginning had me floored. It was so goddamn beautiful. Then came Proudest Monkey, a song I always skipped on Crash, and holy crap it was amazing. I ended up listening to the whole album

Thank you, Roi. Thank you for leading this band through Dave. I miss you.

    Re: R.I.P. Leroi Moore.

I was raised in a unique way and my best friend and mentor was my grandfather. He was to me much like how LeRoi was to the band. He passed away 9 days prior to LeRoi and I'll never forget a friend messaging me sorry for your loss when I thought it was for my grandfather but it was coz LeRoi had passed. I couldn't help but feel a pang in my side like falling even further in the hole I was already in. I was also living in C'Ville at the time. I literally took the job there coz I wanted to be at the epicenter of my favorite band. Seeing the way people mourned his loss truly helped me also endure through my own loss. When the band came back that spring to play the JPJ arena and then go from Old Dirt Hill into Why I Am I really felt the power of how much they loved him. LeRoi you are missed as strongly as you made us fall in love you. From everyone you've inspirationally touched with your graceful sound to who you were as a person. Thank you

Saw the show last night and took my 6 year old daughter for her first show. In between the two sets she asked when we would see the guy on the saxophone with sunglasses. She has only seen the videos of the band before...many from late 90s and early 00's so I hadn't even registered that she didn't know he wouldn't be there. I remember talking to her all about him a couple years ago and she has always been mesmerized by him...especially when he would do a bit of the over the rainbow chords. Needless to say, I spent a lot of the 2nd set of the show thinking about Leroi and missing his presence. R.I.P.

Was listening to Two Step from LT 13. Just listening to Roi's fills in that intro gave me chills. It's a small thing, but it's the whispers like that that I still miss the most.

Listening to Lover Lay Down on LT 31, it really is Roi's song. Was lucky enough to his last performance of the song in 06.

Similarly, I saw his last performance of Pay For What You Get in 2008. It was special looking back on it.

Considering the topic of the song I've always thought it is interesting that this is the last DMB song performance I saw Roi perform:
