Him posting a picture of an empty arena with the tag DMB spac 2017 is something I wouldn't really call meaningless. It's not a huge issue but it's not meaningless either

I mean if anything else he's acting silly. But I'll just sit back and eat my popcorn and laugh at it all. I got what I wanted - acoustic shows

I disagree. A band member publically mocking the band and it's leader, and telling people not to go see his shows, could definetly become a big deal within the band.

I'm not saying that is is a big deal yet or that it ever will be, but it certainly could become one. Dave doesn't need Fonz or any other member nearly as much as they need him.

The empty picture of SPAC is pretty weird. As are the comments about creativity and burnout. This coming a day or 2 after that interview with Dave about continuing to move forward as an artist and not get bored.

I hope it means nothing. But it means something. That maybe the entire band was not into this break or there was more behind the break than has been said. It seems like Boyd, Dave and Carter have all vocally expressed positive expressions about the break and noted 2018 would be more or less a guarantee.

Stefan has really been quiet about it. It seems like the comment about "someone pulling their head out of their ass" last fall was aimed at someone in the band. Like maybe they have 2 albums worth of material and Dave has once again backed off from putting them out in favor of searching for fresh material?

Just speculation obviously but what are these boards good for if not unaccredited speculation and opinion.

I could see stefan maybe being frustrated if they have an albums worth of songs they went in the studio and worked on (we know they at least were in the studio), and then just kind of dropped it all due to the break. New songs they were being creative with are just going to sit on a shelf until whenever it is they come back.

It does in a way feel like they just dropped everything they were working on.
18 or more months or so, there was a plan to release an album initially sometime in 2016. Then something happened with the sessions or whatever and they never went back in the studio and just played some of what they had last summer.

There was some serious turds in the mix. The 3 songs they played every night last year were okay at best for DMB. If they were Dave solo they'd be really great (not sure why I feel that way).

To me, it just felt like burnout songs, trying to make something but realizing you're just really tired and not firing on all cylinders. Like when an artist wants to do something but just doesn't have 100% creative juices.

Bob law, samurai cop and bismarck are all pretty good songs. Better than half of AFTW.

I agree with this statement. While this may not be a big deal or become one, it certainly is eye raising to say the least. The fact that he would even openly comment in that manner I think kinda says all you need to know. I've always thought there was a lot more going on behind the scenes then fans were ever privy to.

They are better than AFTW but they sound like Dave solo rather than DMB. Even BWGK-era DMB tunes.

But that's also three decent songs on an album that would have, let's assume, 11-13 tracks. 3 tracks don't save an album from being mediocre. Unless you're Rush and put out a 5 track album.

Oh yeah im not trying to say they shouldve released an album. Especially when fucking Be Yourself and Plastic Girl were they other songs they attempted live.. Good fucking grief.
