Re: Boston Celtics

yeah the NBA playoffs are usually always a bore. sometimes the ECF/WCF can be fun to watch but the real pay off is the Finals.

We've all known since Durant made his choice what was happening. It doesn't change that this Celtics team was a great watch this year though. I've put in time on much more pointless seasons Celtics wise. I don't need to be guaranteed a spot in a championship series to enjoy watching a sports team I follow.

I watched the entire 4hr and 33min Red Sox game Sunday. I'm not above watching boring sports for the teams I follow.

Speaking of the Red Sox they are probably the happiest people in town that the Cs won game 7.

this is true too. "every season that doesn't end in a championship is a failure" is a really really dumb take. it's an entertainment product. the celtics provided their fans with a ton of entertainment this year

Chris Mannix thinks IT will stay here for a less than max contract, basically he will realize teams won't offer him as much as he thinks they should because they won't want to commit to creating an offense around him like Brad has.

I think the only way that happens is if they work that out before he is a FA. Which is definitely possible considering his contract situation next year. I think it would be more or less because of them selling him on a short term plan to win it all. You sign this deal it allows us to bring in this this guy and this guy sort of thing.

He will get a legit max deal of he hits free agency from somebody. There's just too much money going around for him not to.

Plus if they can turn his next year salary into something in the 20s instead of the 6 he's making it could work out almost the same for him. I could be off there though.

Oh I'm sure if he hits FA he will get a max deal but if it is not a team that is attractive to him would he take a little less to stay with the Celtics.

Who said they wouldn't be? There will be a handful of teams that can offer him the money. Some will be more attractive than others.

IT could accept a max deal with the Celtics that pays him less than a max deal that another less attractive team offers him. Didn't Durant just leave a team that could pay him more than GSW?

Any chance lakers really want Ball and will trade their 1st round picks next season and swap picks this season?

Cs still get Fultz and 3 first round picks next season

    Nope.

Philly has Lakers #1 overall, unprotected, next year. That means the Lakers can't trade a first rounder until 2020. I doubt the Lakers would move up and give up assets to get Ball, I am not even sure they will be drafting Ball, assuming the Celtics pass on him.

I just don't see Boston convincing the Lakers they're seriously interested in Ball at #1 to convince them to flip spots, unless they get into a bidding war with another team for that spot.

For the record, I want nothing to do with Lonzo/LaVar, and they're a package deal to me. Lonzo could be a superstar, and looks to be a great player, but his father is the antithesis of what Boston/New England sports is all about. Imagine him chirping and talking and complaining for 82 games + playoffs? Yuck. If the Celtics could keep him over on the West Coast managing his other two kids, then maybe I'm in. Lol

This is basketball. It's all about the star.

IT told them to back up the Brinks truck last year and now he is going to get payed less then a rookie?

He's not a FA this year and with the injury there's no reason to rush now. If he performs the brinks truck is coming.
