Since renovated, it has a much larger pit, and the lawn is a good size as well. Pits didn't sell out for 2-3 months last year. Reserved seating is limited but every seat is great.

Late June will likely be hot, but hopefully not as hot as last year. It was the hottest show I've been to.

I second that! Last year was incredibly hot...but it is a good venue and Dave usually puts on a good set. I admit I am a notorious lurker but will come out to comment on KS concerts.

Gonna hit up Wichita, KC and STL.

Just no grilling, etc. Drinking is fine, we drank quite a bit in the lots last year.

Honestly nothing great about venue, last year either stage was too small or it was too hot... but they didn't setup the full lighting/video rig.
With that being said, NOT A BAD SEAT in the place!!

What's Intrust Arena like? Standard indoor arena like all the rest? Any fun bars/restaurants nearby?

Since CO got shafted I might make the drive. Tour opener would be exciting. Haven't seen one before! I'm also looking for any local insight on bars/things to do.

Meh. Gotta go back to criket wireless I guess. Kinda was hoping starlight or something though I gues that maybe too small. One things for sure I'm staying away from the pit this year (and will call hopefully). First lady looked at my ticket and let me in pit.. asked if I needed a wristband. Said no that they ran out. I couldn't get back in and once I did find this spot where the wrist bands were a half hour later the guy didn't take my ticket or stamp it or anything. Lots of people must have handed pit tix back for wristbands it was so crowded. Enjoyed most the electric set from some vacant seats and it was a great show.
Debating on wichita though I'm thinking this is the year for gorge too which would make that tough

Overselling the pit combined with the absurdly hot temps last year was dictionary definition of a c-f. I warned my wife against it but did she listen to me? Nooo. I keep telling her we've spent plenty of time down front when they actually had seats there - let the kids have it now. I'm content being (what would be) 15 rows back with a seat not elbowing someone, and possibly even being on the lawn enjoying a nice cigar. Now that I think about it - the only thing I could possibly compare that pit to last year was the WS parade/rally. We were in front of Union Station and my arm literally got stuck between two people at one point. At least it wasn't as hot that day.

Let's give Sandstone management the benefit of the doubt and assume they learned from last year.

Yeah, all they mean is no Chiefs/Royals tailgating - leave your smoker trailer and propane (yech) grill at home. We usually pack up a cooler with a 12 pack, hit Jason's Deli, and veg in the parking lot for a couple of hours.

seriously considering flying in from cuse for tour opener. any locals have advice on: airports/hotels/ability to cab to the show and back vs renting a car/venue quality? Any tips would be helpful! thanks!

I'll be flying in from Minneapolis, I've been looking for hotels and there are many downtown by the arena that have airport shuttles and within walking distance to the Intrust arena. There's an area cold old town? I think that's what it's called but it's an area with a bunch of bars and restaurants

Geeze yeah I pulled two sets of 4 for the section 7-14 and then 4 pits now nothing. Pit sucked last year trying to avoid that...

agreed. of course last year was somewhat of an exception. who knew it'd be 100 out and that they'd oversell it.

Gotcha, weird that you can't search for pits specifically. Hopefully on Friday it'll work.
