I played it yesterday for a few hours. I play on PC and I have a fairly beefy system, but the graphics and sound are really amazing if you have the system for it. My perspective is coming from someone who played Battlefield 2 for over 3 years and logged over 1200 hours into it, so I had certain expectations of BF3. That being said, BF3 isn't perfect in my eyes, but it's definitely a hell of a lot of fun to play. It's a very immersive experience and given the number of vehicles to play and the different styles of play you can utilize provided by the different kits and variances in maps, I think it offers a lot of replay value.

I haven't tried the co-op mode or single player campaign yet, but those are low priority for me though.

I played the single player campaign for a couple hours last night. This is my first experience with a Battlefield game. I have to say, im impressed so far. It is alot of fun. I will check out the multiplayer tonight, and the graphics on a 50" Plasma are rediculously good.

Definitely give the multiplayer a shot. I think the first time you drive a tank around or blow someone away using a jet you'll be hooked. If you don't get the hang of the aircraft at first, give it some time as it may take practice. Once you get the hang of it though there are few other games that can match the experience of full out war against other human players.

I like it so far, but I never played the previous ones so I have nothing to compare it to. I always just played Call of Duty.

Someone I know can find them. Not actual legit storebought copies of course, but working copies of them.

I played Black Ops like 8 days before it was released. My friend was like a 39 or something by the time it released lol. But he told me he could do the same for MW3, so we'll see.

Yes and no. If they have proof that a store has broken street date, then everyone playing is fine, because they can't be held responsible that a store did something stupid. But if there's no proof that a store broke street date, and copies are only available because of leaks, then people playing will not only have their gamertag banned for life, but will have the console the game was played on banned as well.

Of course, you can get by both of those by just playing offline, so no info from the drive goes to Microsoft.

Yeah, they can, but according to him his Xbox is undetectable as modded the way it is. I don't know all the specs around it, but yeah if they were to find out he was online early they'd ban him. One of those nice bans until year 9999 lol

But that's why I let him take the risk. I myself could wait if I had to. But since he knows what he's doing I figure why not. My gamertag is never involved.

    Saw this today on facebook.

Double XP weekend this weekend (not sure if on both systems or just PS3 or Xbox) on both Black Ops and MW2. Now this says that for anyone that has prestiged will automatically received a token for each time they prestiged (in previous COD games) for MW3. It did say this goes for Black Ops, MW2 and WaW.

So for those that have prestiged multiple times on multiple games, you should be receiving a nice amount of tokens day 1 of MW3.

Nope, it's just one token for each game you've prestige in. If you've prestiged 10 times in WaW and MW2, and 15 times in BO, you'll be getting 3 tokens. Confirmed by IW/Sledgehammer.

But if you're someone that sits at level 50 no prestige, definitely worth it to hit the prestige button.

Were they Xbox 360 players that were dissappointed? The Xbox BF3 servers were down almost all afternoon/night yesterday. It might just be a lot of pissed off people posting that. I got BF3 for the 360 and when I could actually connect I really liked it. This is my first BF game too, I've been a COD player for a few years.

Ah, thanks for the clarifying that. The post on FB made it sound like for those that prestiged all the way were getting something more.

No, but one of the friends on my list should be. He's trying to get me to buy another xbox to mod, but I don't know if I want to. Having 2 360s would seem kind of redundant.

Frustrating as all hell. It pisses me off like Black Ops pisses me off, sometimes even moreso. I'm sure MW3 will have people dropping like flies instead of the more bullets it took in BO so I'm sure I'll have to get my blood pressure checked before starting lol

I'm just really pumped to finally have a studio team that is all set to support the game after launch. Treyarch was awesome on Black Ops, and they seem to have really influenced the IW/Sledgehammer team. And of course, Beachhead (the Elite studio) will be helping as well.

I can tell you right now that they almost certainly will be doing a gun balance patch within the first two weeks. Everyone I know that's played it has said that there's a handful of SMGs that are just monsterously overpowered.

After seeing on reddit the number of problems people are running into with BF3 and EA customer service, I'm so glad I didn't pick it up.

I hate EA, and the more I dig into what that company is the more I hate them. COD all day.

I hated EA hard back in their really bad days, where they were attempting to buy every studio and run them into the ground, although they've gotten a bit better about it recently. But the past month, they've been really shady, especially with this BF3 launch. So I'm glad that both my 360 and PC versions ended up being "free", with the exception of buying the 10 dollar multiplayer pass.

Can someone update me on these tokens? Are they important? I've been using a new tag since the MW2 days, and I skipped BO.

Also, I pre-ordered my copy at GameStop today and the guy working told me that their pre-orders will be getting a DLC pack as a bonus. Can't say if that's 100% guaranteed. Anyone else heard that?

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

So you're familiar with how prestiging worked in the past four titles: when you prestige, you get a new create-a-class every other prestige, and that's it. So prestige 1 new class, prestige 2 nothing, and so on.

But now when you prestige, you're brought to a prestige shop. In the prestige shop, you're given a token for every time you've prestiged in MW3, plus one for every past CoD you've prestiged in (from MW1 on). And you're presented with a number of options to use your tokens on. They are:

Additional create-a-class: The classic prestige reward.
Double XP: You get 2 hours (in-game hours, so not counting in lobby or anything like that) of double XP.
Double Weapon XP: In MW3, you level up weapons independent of your character level. So if you have a gun that you really, really like, and want to unlock all of the attachments/specializations (another new thing, basically gun perks) quickly, this will do it.
Unlock gear: This lets you have an item (weapon/equipment/grenade type/etc) with you from level 1. So say the FAD is your favorite assault rifle (it's very similar to the TAR-21 in MW2), but it's one of the last ARs to unlock. With unlock gear, you get it from level one.
    Regular Package
    Hardened Package
Prestige Package: So these three aren't fully fleshed out yet. On a very early build of MW3, these three things were actually six things: reg/hard/prestige titles & emblems, and reg/hard/prestige challenges. The assumption is that they combined both of those into one "package". You have to unlock them in order, so you can't get Prestige before hardened or reg, or hardened before reg. But as I said, the assumption is that this will be a combination of what we saw before, being specialty titles and emblems, and some challenges.
Reset stats: Exactly what it says. It wipes your stats clean.

Gotcha. Not sure it's worth switching back to my old PSN just for one token. Have they announced how many prestiges/levels per prestige yet?

10 prestiges, 80 levels. But they've said that they've tweaked the amount of XP per level. It used to be 1.5x the last level (so level one is 500 XP, 2 is 750, and so on), but that's changed. Otherwise, levels 70-80 would've been as long as levels 1-60, or so.

New video explaining weapon proficiencies and equipment. But more fun to watch the new maps/guns, and see all of the titles/emblems.
