Not like the back of my tv, no. It does have the standard black and red holes for the speaker wire to run in but that's it. And it has a phono plug, if that's any good. Like I said, it's from the early 80s by my estimates.

I have a restoration project for the spring/summer. Lase year I inhereted a stereo cabinet, complete with turntable, radio, and either 8-track or cassette (I can't remember at the moment). It's a LARGE, HEAVY piece of furniture, about 8' long and 3' tall or so. My plan is to restore the turntable, new (inexpensive) cartridge, possibly new woofers/tweeters and sand off the old stain and re-stain it. I will take pictures and document it all, but I'd LOVE to have this as a beautiful, working unit. It cost me $0 and works perfectly now, but could use some upgrades.

You may be able to use Audacity to transfer without needing the USB tables.

    This guide may help:

(This would be the 3rd option of the 3 listed, of course.)

Is it one with the speakers and turntable built in? Would love to see a pic. We had one of those back in the 80s in our living room.

Yeah, it's from the late 60s?...maybe 70s? I'll take a couple pictures tonight.

I was contemplating trading it for the Live Trax but all I had to listen to was the first notes of PNP to know that is not happening.

Yeah I wouldn't do that now knowing that it looks like we're gonna get another pressing of the Live Trax set.

threw on AFTW a while ago, guess having a case of the Monday's like Rickyh24, and realized something...my player sucks! ugh

it's one of those generic Crosley's that's supposed to look "vintage" and it is terrible. I used to have a Sony and it was so so, but I gave that away.

i guess what i'm gettin at is what do you recommend as far as affordable ($500 range) players? and speakers too, right now i'm plugging into my bose sounddock, which isn't terrible when it comes to digital, but not sure if it's right for vinyl. any help is greatly appreciated. from what little i've read around here some of you audiophiles are practically geniuses! (and that's my shameless plug in order to ascertain some knowledge)

Been thinking about opening it. I never plan on selling it. I bought a frame for it, but it's not some fancy, customized one.

Is your $500 budget just for your turntable, or for the entire system?

If just for the turntable, I cannot recommend more highly the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. Had mine for about a week and half now and it is simply unreal. A huge upgrade from my Audio Technica AT-PL120 that I was using for the last 5 years.

As for speakers - backread the last couple of pages, we've actually been discussing that quite a bit today.

    Totally agree!!

Or, to buy a cheap used gatefold sleeve to keep the discs in and put the cover back in the frame. Life's too short, and records were pressed to be played!

I have two turntables in my house. One is hooked up to the sterio in my living room, I pulled the second out of storage this weekend and set it up. Wasn't sure how good of shape it's in, but with this old receiver, it sounds fantastic! No speakers on this one, headphones only.

It's been in the cellophane for almost 15 years. Actually, now that I think about it, that anniversary is coming up this week.

I should throw a party, have some friends over, crack that sucker open and listen to it.

Here is the stereo cabinet that I'm going to restore. The wood doesn't look quite as good as in the first pic. Mostly just some water damage on the top of the cabinet from being stored in a garage, but that's manageable. Whadaya think?

Very cool! Did the components on the inside come with the cabinet originally or did someone add those?

Seems to all be original. The tape deck looks kinda weird, and I haven't tried it out yet, but it doesn't seem to be added. I don't have a componenet cassette deck yet, so that's the only player I have for tapes, at the moment.

Thanks! I will. Once the weather starts turning, I'm going to make a dedicated area in the garage to work on it. Doing some research on it until then.

Yeah for that price another huge recommendation for the Carbon from Pro-Ject, has a lovely $100 Ortofon 2M Red cartridge as stock which takes the performance into the next level from the Ortofon O5E (sp?) which used to come with the Debut III.

You need a receiver to power the speakers, consider going to the used market and check out some older Paradigm Monitor 5 or 7 or 9 speakers, should find a pair for under $200 in great condition.
