Does 5 guys have any stores out west? They could have an agreement similar to what Wegman's and Price Chopper have; neither infringes on each other's territory.

I live in Southern California, and I didn't know what 5 Guys was until they built a store in my city a year ago. It's out of business now. No joke. No one knew who they were, the store had a strange layout, the employees were bad, and the food was greasy. It wasn't long until they stopped receiving business. I would be willing to try another 5 Guys, but my experience was, too, disappointing.

I'm pretty sure you can own a Five Guys franchise if you have the money. In N Out is a family owned operation.

edit: you could they are now sold out

Five Guys is greasy as hell. The bag is literally soaked by the time I get home with it.

In-n-Out's appeal is that it's only on the west coast. Not that it isn't great, which it is, but it does have the allure of not being readily available, so when you finally do try it you've already been told by many people that it's the greatest thing ever.

It's readily available to me and I still think it's better than 5 Guys.

I'm not saying it isn't good. You can't deny that it helps In-n-Out's reputation that it's unavailable to most people.

It isn't the greatest thing ever, it's pretty much always crowded, busy, and hard to find seating. However, once you learn when the 'slow' hours are, the experience is much more enjoyable. The food is very fresh, and it's good. Good to the point that I crave it almost every week. My friend works there, and their standards are very high, they expect the best of every employee, and they are quick to fire people who can't keep up. I prefer other local burger joints, but when it comes to "fast food chains" In n Out is my preference.

I don't know where the weird In n Out vs. Five Guys rivalry comes from, because one is clearly West Coast, while the other is clearly mid-west/east coast. The two do not overlap, nor offer similar products. Most of my friends enjoy In n Out, but prefer local burger joints. When it comes to the rivalry, all I can say for sure is that 5 Guys is way greasier than any fast food joint I know.

Of course I can deny it. I don't believe one has anything to do with the other.

The two do overlap, and they both offer similar products. In n Out isn't horrible, its just not that special. Neither is 5 Guys, but I definitely prefer 5 Guys.

Going back home for a dentists appointment tomorrow. Will be getting 5 Guys before I come back to school. I've missed it. It wasn't easy going from eating it 4 or 5 times a week to 0.

Indeed. Who cares what that survey says. Does it take into account that In And Out is only in a certain part of the country?

Never had In and Out. Five Guys burgers are nothing special. Tastes like a regular old burger to me. Mostly everything at Five Guys is way too overpriced. Though I will say that if you just get a regular size Cajun fries that is definitely worth it. Can't beat $3.00 for a meals worth of fries. I used to go to Five Guys, spend the $2.79-$3.00 whatever it was and then go right over to Wendy's and get a dollar burger. Now I don't eat any fast food.

The truth is everything on that list is bad, terrible food. Subway is almost as disgusting as Mcdonalds to me at this point. Their vegetables are never fresh. Their lettuce tastes line plastic bag, their tomatoes and green peppers taste unripened. Their meat always sucks and doesn't taste like what it's supposed to. The chicken breast is rubbery fake chicken. Taco Bell has completely fallen off my radar as a location in which to acquire food. Everything there is terrible now. Horrendous.

Fast food sucks ass. Wanna know the true best fast food / burger place?

i had in and out when i was in LA and while it was good, it certainly wasn't anything mindblowing. 5 guys on the other hand... that was like a religious experience.

I never go out of my way for five guys. If I'm at the mall I'll grab it sometimes. When I lived in vegas I made sure I got to in n out a couple times a week. It's just so much better. Of course there are better burgers than both though.

Don't agree with that at all. If anything if hurts it but the owners don't want it to get watered down so understand why they keep it the way it is.

If after eating 5 guys you don't experience some combination of feeling kind of drunk and like you've just woken up from a long slumber, you didn't do it right.
