Listening to Warehouse 10: 1st Spinning

This American Baby Intro transports me back a decade when I spent a summer listening to LT6 and painting my grandmother's house, while emailing my high school crush.

Life changes, folks, but DMB lasts forever.

ABI has always been a favorite, and this is a killer version.
I miss Butch.

I'm not a big ABI guy, but I like that version a lot. it's like the perfect length

Damn, folks... This Dreamgirl ain't bad either.

Maybe it's just been a while since I listened to the band. I remember at my first show I took a piss-break during Dreamgirl.
But maybe 6-7 years later, I was psyched to hear it.

Event Stolen Away has grown on me some. Glad it's not on this disc, though.

I'm just going to live-ants my way through this thing.

I'll never be down with Dreamgirl but I'm fine with ABI and AB on this disc

I'll just say it: I really miss LeRoi on Crash. That is perhaps the one song I notice his absence most on.

but, at this point in my life i like my DMB full band. Strong mix though.

People, People is not that great lyrically. It's great because of the myth of it, the rarity of it. It's historically significant for the band, but it's fairly hokey if we're honest.

flame away, but I stand by it.

It's a predecessor to Typical Situation I think, and the latter is far stronger.

Let me clarify by saying: Musically, it is FANTASTIC, and quintessential DMB.

In this Warehouse 10 you can clearly hear LeRoi's affinity for Wayne Shorter. The whole thing, the composition, is not unlike something you'd hear from Weather Report. Steffan, even at 18 has his chops. All this in a night club.

    This D&T Dodo is suck a cock-tease.

I mean, it's great, but I want a Dave and Friends tour. Put Cheminti on Key's. Oteil on Bass.

    DO IT DAVE.

The parts of Dreamgirl where Dave isn't singing are pretty decent.

The Stand Up trio are the best performances on the disc. Not the best songs, obviously, but in terms of performance, I find them the most enjoyable to listen to.

Last Stop is lacking the punch it usually has, but that's not a negative. If you can call this a "chill" Last Stop, it's a fresh listen.

Bartender/DDTW is strong, very nice performance. Dodo is great too.

No opinion on Crash, Get in line, or People.

I think 08.25.05 is the best ABI Dave has ever sang, but anything from July and August 2005 works pretty well due to Dave not having transitioned to the screeching yet, that's when the vocals all go horribly wrong. Listen to the second performace from Weekend on the Rocks, the screeching is awful! I did a mix for SPAC tailgating and included that version (09.12.05) because Carter is so badass in it, but I edited out about 60 seconds (very seamless transition) so as to not spoil the song with Dave's vocals.

08.25.05 only runs 06:30 in its entirety, the wailing is the most powerful vocals I've heard in that song and it makes it. If they ever release it professionally, I'd edit 09.12.05 onto the end of it, lol.

Do you have a link to this version? I have never heard it and I trust your judgement

Yes, it was uploaded to YouTube taped by "Ethan Sinclair" but the description is always hard to find...

    Got it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dIopMiZ8e4

(Look at the title, you can see why it's hard to search for)
