I think they're trying to sell tickets for this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they do tour, or even just a caravan type thing.

East Troy is listed as a two night stop on the tour list. Moiline is close to Iowa and pretty centralized for Iowa and Central IL fans. I dont know the size of the venue but I would be surprised if it was as big as Alpine (East Troy/Elkhorn).

They won't tour in 2017, but they'll play a small handful of shows, and maybe not the number of '11 Caravan shows they played at that. I'd bet a month's worth of pay on that.

I have to agree with this. For it being their 25th year and a "final tour" before a hiatus, there wasn't much fanfare to the way it was presented. Just a little blurb that tour dates have been announced and, "oh yeah, we're not touring in 2017 - below are the 2016 tour dates". It really wouldn't surprise me if this was the end of the line and we get a couple shows a year here and there. As excited as I am to finally see them at The Gorge, and hopefully at Blossom in May, I just get a feeling that they're kind of tired of this and ready to move on to family life and, or, projects beyond DMB. I love Black and Bluebird, but outside of that, the new songs from last summer were probably the most uninspired songs I've heard from the band as a collective unit in a long time.

These dates mean nothing to me until I see some setlists. If they trod out the same stuff from the past 2 years again, I guess I'll wait to see what 2018 brings.

This is just a scary as a girlfriend saying she needs a "break". Maybe that's it, and there's no need for speculation. We'll all get back together after a few random one night stands, and say sorry I still love you and let's be together forever.... But there's a bit of me that believes there's more to it than that. The band probably is going to have to assess somethings while on said "break", and change it up in 2018 in some way.

Also, no mention of new music is slightly scary. I was really hoping for a simultaneous announcement that they would be supporting a new album this summer as well. Could be the reason they are taking some time off. Not to make new music, but just to assess if they even want to anymore.

On a positive note, it leaves the door open for a Dave and Tim tour. Or Dave and Friends tour even. With Dave mentioning that he would love to go back on the road with Tim in RS last year, it seems like at least a possibility. I can't see Dave sitting on his ass for over a year and NOT touring. It's like what the hell else is he going to do.

I was puttering that around in the noggin' too. If that happens, I'll be content with them being out of service in 2017. They did that in 2010, and that year wound up being a beauty for me.

I'm pretty sure that DMB will play shows in 2017. It said they won't tour, not that they are taking it off completely. I'm betting Caravans or special one off shows. Maybe some D&T. I'm looking forward to seeing my shows this year and hearing what is planned for next.

Johnny Cash played a lot of solo shows in the last years of his life, he never really stopped touring. I see the same spirit in Dave. I imagine he'll be playing into his 70's, too.
